PU clerk murderer arrested, claims deceased tried to sexually harass him

Chandigarh, February 16 A Day after the body of Naresh Patahania, a Panjab University employee, was recovered from a drain in Dhanas village, his murderer Nizammudin alias Sonu was arrested by UT Police officers today.

Sonu alleged that Naresh had tried to sodomize him on Thursday night, following which he killed him. Sonu (25) is an autorickshaw driver and a resident of Milk Colony, Dhanas village. According to him, he met Naresh, who was also the president of Dhanas market and Ramleela committee of the village, at a liquor vend.

As per police officers, after having drinks, Naresh asked Sonu to accompany him. Naresh allegedly took Sonu near the drain and tried to sodomize him. “I felt extremely humiliated and hit him with a stone lying nearby,” said Sonu.

Sonu said after killing Naresh, he threw the body in the drain. He then wore Naresh’s clothes, took his mobile, money and sped away. He reached Sector 38 to meet a friend, who works as a security guard in Sector 38. It was there that he was taken taken to police station-39, on suspicion.

After Naresh’s murder was reported in the newspapers, police officials in Sector 39 came to know about the incident. Sonu was then inspected and he was found wearing Naresh’s trouser and blood stained shirt under his clothes.

After the stained clothes were recovered from Sonu, officials contacted Sector 11 police officials and handed over his custody to them. The accused was produced in Court which remanded him to police custody till February 18.
