Auckland Ace Indian Leander Paes will have to wait further to notch up his 500th career doubles title as he and his new American partner Scott Lipsky lost to top seeds Czech-Swede duo of Martin Damm and Robert Lindstedt 5-7, 4-6 in the final of Heineken Open in Auckland on Saturday.

The second seeded Indo-American pair were broken by their opponents once in each set but failed to capitalise on three break point opportunities they got in the one hour and 14 minute summit clash.

Paes and Lipsky were playing together for the first time this week in the USD 480,750 hard-court event.

The 35-year-old Paes, who teamed up with Damm to win the 2006 US Open doubles title, was playing in his 67th ATP World Tour doubles final (40-27 win-loss record).

For Damm and Lindstedt, it was the first title of their young partnership. The two were playing together for the second time in an ATP event after making their debut last week in Brisbane.
