Chandigarh, February 21 With massive construction work going on at the airport, officials have decided to do away with the paid parking system as the parking has now been closed. Though the vehicles that enter are being parked in the little space available, airport authorities are not charging any money for the same, keeping in mind the inconvenience being caused to the people.

Meanwhile, with the construction work in progress, passengers are facing a lot of trouble. Because the parking area has been closed, people still get their vehicles inside, resulting in complete traffic chaos. The few who choose not to come in are the ones who suffer the most, as it takes a lot of time to reach the arrival gate because of the block. Even though airport officials have asked police officials to regulate the traffic flow, passengers themselves are being forced to manage it now.

Talking to Newsline, Suneel Dutt, Air Controller, said, “We have put up a notice urging the public to use vehicles for only pick-and-drop facility. It is only a matter of few more months for the construction to finish. Development requires cooperation from the people.”

However, after construction work is over, the current building will also be demolished and reconstructed with a new plan.

The airport authorities are also working towards getting other facilities for the airport including an ATM, eateries etc.

Meanwhile, the construction work is expected to be completed in another three months.
