Mumbai Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has a niggling stomachache, which has made him rush back from London and cancel his immediate travel plans. It seems to be the same problem he has been suffering from for a long time, he wrote on his blog after a routine checkup at Lilavati Hospital on Wednesday morning.

“I drove straight to my doctor on arrival late last night and after some external physical examinations was subjected to CT scans this morning. The results do not show anything, but the trouble exists, albeit in a much smaller scale than the last time. Some more tests have been advised tomorrow,” Bachchan, 66, wrote on his blog.

He was scheduled to travel out of the city on Wednesday but cancelled all his travel and shooting plans as doctors have advised rest. Despite “extreme care”, he wrote, the problem keeps recurring. He assured his fans that there was no need for alarm, though he did not want to take chances.

In November 2005, Bachchan had been diagnosed with an acute case of colitis, called diverticulitis (swelling of the small intestine resulting in formation of pouches in the colon). He was subsequently operated upon. However he developed acute abdominal pain again on his birthday last October and was admitted to hospital for a week.
