Islamabad Pakistan Supreme Court on Monday rejected on technical grounds two petitions by the federal and Punjab governments challenging release of JuD chief Hafiz Mohd Saeed, a key accused in the Mumbai attacks, from house arrest, prompting authorities to announce they will file fresh pleas after removing the flaws.

The petitions were submitted on Saturday though the office of the Supreme Court registrar had not completed formalities for them to be taken up by a bench.

The petitions were rejected this afternoon due to technical flaws, sources said.

Deputy Attorney General Shah Khawar told reporters the registrar had returned the petitions as they challenged only the release of Saeed and his close aide Col (retd) Nazir Ahmed on the orders of the Lahore High Court.

The office of the registrar said two other JuD leaders - Amir Hamza and Mufti Abdur Rehman - who were originally party to the matter should also be included in the petitions, Khawar said.

Hamza and Rehman, detained along with Saeed in December last year in the wake of the Mumbai attacks, were freed by a judicial review board in May.

Khawar said the petitions would be submitted again today after removing the technical flaws.

What is their to learn from Israel? America is massively routed in Iraq, a superpower!!! Is Israel secured today? NO. This is the greatest begger nation in the history of mankind. Without support from the west, Israel cannot even stand for a moment. Those who are asking our military to attack Pakistan, should first consider themselves taking the adventure. Or send your children to fight? Talk is cheap. Pakistan is a nuclear power. That tells the whole story. Poor and helpless civilian Palestanians do not even have an army. What happened in Lebanon in 2006 then? Check it out. Israel got defeated. The wheels are turning back. Israel's intellectuals are warning Israel not to repeat the mistake of Crusaders. Make peace, before the wheels turns. The only soluton between India and Pakistan is peace, peace and peace with honesty.

action speaks louder by gary on 06 Jul 2009

We should have struck POK immediately after 26/11. Then called in US, UK to interfere and sort out the issue. The world would asked the 2 sides to stop, since both had done a tit-for-tat.Instead MMS and Congress were talking about peace etc. which the terrorist doesnt understand. They understand action, only action. Not 'civilised' peaceful words of our government. We will never be able to punish the mumbai blasts accused or the 26/11 accused. Thats the truth. Learn from Israel.

Where there is a will there is a way. If Pakistan does not want Hafiz Ahmed to be brought to justice there are a million ways of doing it and this was one of them. They think all Indians are fools to believe in their half hearted efforts giving the judiciary as the main stumbling block for booking him !!!Heights of tomfoolery.

@K Mehra, Another little idea... by Jay S on 06 Jul 2009

While I agree with your suggestion, Mr.Mehra, there is another solution available too. Pakistan should make suicide bombing training compulsory for all cadets interested in terrorist activity. Every student should learn to detonate a live suicide vest before he is given certification as a trained terrorist.

The terrorists indoctrinate its cadre into believing that their deaths will lead them to heaven. Why cant we capture the terrorists and put a grenade in their salwar kameez and blow them up, I mean we would be helping them to reach heaven directly won't we? Hello Mr. Zardari are you listening ? Stop this charade and put some Indian made grenades into the pants of the LeT chief ?
