Rehman Malik

Islamabad Pakistan's Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik on Monday met Indian High Commissioner Satyabrata Pal and briefed him about the country's investigation into the Mumbai attacks.

Malik told the Indian diplomat about the formation of a three-member probe commission by Pakistan to examine all aspects of the November 26 terror strikes and the information provided by India, official sources said.

He reportedly assured Pal that Pakistan will share with India the findings of its own investigation.

No further details were immediately available.

Malik had last week announced the formation of a special investigation team headed by an Additional Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency to probe the attacks. The team will include two other officers with counter-terrorism experience, he had said.

PAK BRIEFS FOREIGN ENVOYS ON ITS 26/11 PROBE

Pakistan on Monday briefed foreign envoys on its response to the Mumbai terror attacks and its own probe into information provided by India on the terrorist incident, as part of an effort to counter the diplomatic initiative launched by New Delhi.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik briefed the ambassadors and high commissioners of most foreign missions in Islamabad at the Foreign Office.

There was no official word on the meeting though TV channels quoted sources as saying that Qureshi told the envoys that Pakistan had initiated a crackdown on the Jamaat-ud-Dawah and Lashker-e-Taiba following the Mumbai attacks.

Qureshi reportedly said that Pakistan was conducting its own probe into the information provided by India on the Mumbai incident. He also said that India had not yet responded to Pakistan's offers to conduct a joint investigation and to send a high-level delegation to the neighbouring country to discuss modalities for such a probe.

This was the first major briefing for diplomats after the Mumbai attacks. The Pakistan government has faced criticism at home and abroad for its handling of the fallout of the Mumbai attack and its response to the diplomatic campaign mounted by India. Invitations for the briefing were sent to diplomats by the Foreign Office over the weekend.

Media reports said Indian High Commissioner was not invited for the meeting because he had been briefed by Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir just a few days ago. Some officials also pointed out that Pakistani High Commissioner was not invited to similar briefings arranged by India.

The reports also suggested that the government might share with the envoys "new information" that has not been publicised so far for security reasons.

Pak briefs Envoys by Charles Sanchez on 20 Jan 2009

Vivek: I am sure you must have heard that 1Paki soldier is better than 3 Indian so called fighting men, BUT now the equation has changed, it is now 1 to 30, because it took almost 400 indian security personnel to subdue 10 half trained half supplied irregular misfits, think about that before you open your mouth to spew garbage

Let them be in fool's Paradise.. by snehal patel on 19 Jan 2009

Hello,Rajan and Vivek both of you please stop arguing with Pakis. Because these people will never understand that their officials, politicians, army and ISI is in a proxy war against India since last 60 years and apart from this they are miss guided from their politicians since so many years. They believe Kashmir is the one and only issue behind all these happened. It's of no use talking people like these who really do not want to understand and feel how precious a human life is. Let them be in their fool's pardise time has already started showing them the reality in SWAT.

Pakistan role in terror by Ravi on 19 Jan 2009

Dear sir,I really surprised with some so called Indian, who try to white wash terror prone Pakistan. In India also there is some bad elements as we had seen. Its really on political base, not state sponsored and so far no proof of RAW sponsoned activiities anywhere in this universe. But what about Pakistan? forget about 26/11, what about terror attack in London metro rail ? all that stupid was either trained or Pakistan disidents. In afganistan border totaly disorder. No other is responsible of that one. In brief, where ever terror attack happened, there will be a Pakistan touch. Yet, some of double agents in India, still trying to side with that country. Its really pathetic.

Living in fool's paradise... by Vivek Nair on 19 Jan 2009

Mr. Gohar.. apart from Pakistani terrorists who are trained to bleed India, have you thought of how your people are treating the minority in your country. Take the instance of a hapless Hindu factory worker who was lynched by his Muslim peeers of the same factory. Look at the other sect of your own religion who is subject to brutality quite often in your country. So, Pakistan's house is totally in a disarray and even God has no idea how to fix it now.Mr. Waqas, what do you think of India's might? You have tasted that many times and the worst in 1971 when ninety thousand of your soldiers in East Pakistan surrendered to the Indian Army.. I can say without doubt that these ninety thousands solders were wearing bangles. Think twice before you challenge India..

Keep Fooling !! by Rajan Sharma on 19 Jan 2009

Keep Fooling, but you are fooling yourself and this will bring a complete chaos to your country. You were never serious, because you yourself are a part of terrorist groups and you cannot survive without them. They are flowing in your veins. To get rid of this cancer, the only option you have is to look for help from India. Accept it and start working seriously on it.

Terrorism by m.a.ayub gohar on 19 Jan 2009

Dear Rajan, Pakistani government and army have killed/hanged hundreds of Islamic terrorists even by entering Mosques. But Indian government has not even arrested any one Hindu terrorist from hundreds of thousands of Hindu terrorists whose hands are stained with the blood of innocent Muslims and Christians in various parts of India.India has to first clean its own house before sermonizing Pakistan on terrorism. India is not qualified to talk against terrorism as Indian state itself sustains Hindu terrorism against the minorities.

EXACTLY by waqas on 19 Jan 2009

well said Ayub. just look at their attitude? all they want is war. No1 is willing to even think about the real problem and real soloution of the problems. Sort Kashmir out, stop slaughtering them( alreasd slaughterd 90000). and watch there will not be no terrorism in region. and stop threating pak, we aint wearing bangles either. if you really want war, Bring it on and it will deceded on battle ground. Cowards

Fallability of judgement by romesh.sharma on 19 Jan 2009

Well, partially Mr gohar and Waqas are correct.Yes India and Indians don't have to sermonize or send advises but the terrorismwithin India by socalled Hindus is absolutely internal matter/problem.These so named Hindus don't cross the borders to kill and destroy people and property. Moreover its exaggerated to say ninety thousand Kashmiri muslims are slaughtered and that christians and muslims are being killed and that there had been no arrests or action from the GOI.Definitely in India too there are bad politicians who are involved in such crimes but not to that extant of Pakistan. How about Kashmiri Pandits?Have you ever given some serious thought about their plight? Moreover its a known fact to the whole world that Kashmir is/was integral part of India. The rest of the world won't say it directly because they are benefitting toomuch by keeping this conflict alive. Is this not the fact recognized by all world leaders that Pakistan is the centre of breeding terrorists and terrorism? Its also a fact that Pakistani(aboriginies)aren't/weren't much involved in terrorism but people from rest of Islamic world living in Pak had started this crime and it brought a lot money in Pak.After a decade or so the funds/charity from foreign(non-state actors as per Mr Zardari)groups became major part of Pak economy. It was/is a great help to failing economy of Pak and a sorce to exploit USA,Westrn nations and naturally Islamic oil rich countries in the name of fighting Kafirs.Threatening or not India does know about Pakistani prowess and power.India doesn't believe in wars. This war propaganda was started by Pakistani leaders to divert public intention.About cowardness, well keep in mind the consequences and humiliation Pakistan had to face after its four time declaring War.Pakistan might have some nukes aquired from China but they will remain like dummies.India is well prepared not to face any eventuality against Pakistan but also China.Have you ever heard a word from any Indian leader about use or even possession of nukes? Is it not only Pak leaders who propagate through hidden threats by saying nuke-detterence and so on!If ever there will be war on this sub-continent it will be Pak to start because its failed and on the verge of bankruptcy. The actual problem with Pakistan is its absolute dependency upon USA and Saudis like countries.India with its too many internal problems and extreme poverty has gone a century ahead while Pakistan is still there where it was during Partition. At places it is seen retrograding conditions.Pak folk is no less intelligent or less hard working and its the dependency that kept it backward.Don't forget Indians(especially from North)like Pak no less than their own Land but at times they are also forced to blame or use invectives only because the leadrship which is foolishly stubborn.Hope I don't touch your feelings.Dear being poor is no matter of shame or inferiority but one has to be sincere atleast to his/her ownself:
