Kasab custody

Islamabad Pakistan’s Attorney General Latif Khan Khosa has said that any Pakistani court trying the accused involved in the Mumbai terror attacks could ask for the custody of lone surviving terrorist Ajmal Kasab through Interpol.

“If our investigators submit a challan against the suspects for their involvement in the Mumbai tragedy, a trial court can issue warrants for physical custody of Ajmal Kasab,” he said.

Such a warrant could be processed through Interpol, ‘The Dawn’ quoted him as saying. The Attorney General was explaining trial procedures to a group of media personnel in his chambers in the Supreme Court.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani hinted on Wednesday that Pakistan could consider sending a team of investigators to India in connection with Mumbai probe.

Khosa said it was to be seen how the Indian Government reacted to the proposal of sending FIA investigators to that country.

He said since Pakistan had no extradition treaty with India, the trial court could seek custody of Ajmal Kasab through Interpol.

He said Section 4 of the Pakistan Penal Code empowered a court to try a Pakistani accused of committing an offence outside the country.

Interpol jokers by Hero Vaz on 20 Feb 2009

Interpol is a joke. What has interpol been able to do to bring to book Dawood, the international criminal? Dawood roams free under the very noses of the Interpol clowns.

INTERNATIONAL LAW VS THE LAWS PAKI BULLIES by M.Arun on 20 Feb 2009

Justify your designation by guitty on 20 Feb 2009

Time has come to stop debate over small fry kasab , Attorney General should have more concrete jobs to do for save the nation heading towards structured collapse of human survival - hope it is possible in fast fading democratic turmoil . History than will remember him for his designation.

Failed temperance and wisdom by romesh.sharma on 20 Feb 2009

A drowning man tries to catch every straw to save life and so is with Pakistaniregime. They are lost in high water stroms and have lost diplomatic, political and intellectual orientation. They are trying all silly illogical tricks todelay distract intention to their criminal deeds.Pakistan has lost its credibility all around the world and seeking Interpol intervention won't help atall.Like Pakistani Govts Pakistani Penal code which changes every day and hour to their suitability. At times one wonder if they have some kind of constitution or certain laws!Superciliciouness and vanity bounded by jealousy and inferiority comlexes make Pakistan lie and manipulate the things which are simple to resolve.Pakistani Lawmakers could be so cheap and lost with basic intellectual reasoning is no more surprise but a reason to cut-off all ties/discussions.Why can't they hand over the wanted criminals to India first and earn some trust for reciprocity?

Custody through Interpol by Rao on 20 Feb 2009

Does it not mean that India can also get the custody of those in Pakistan through Interpol (depsite not having extradition treaty) and if so, what are we waiting for? Or is it restricted to seeking extradition of only nationals of one country from any other country?

Ignorance or Stupidity by Sridhar on 20 Feb 2009

Like everything else regarding 26/11 Pakistan is being stupid, ignorant or confused. Interpol will act if the person is missing or untracebale by normal procedures. This terrorist is already in a custody of a democratic country and the whole wolrd knows about this. So, where does the duty of interpol come?!

Paki and Kasan by SK on 20 Feb 2009

God proposes but the priest disposes. Pakistan may say anything, but it is India who has Kasab in their custody, and hence has the final say.

Pakis absurd claim for Kasab by Subramanian Iyer on 20 Feb 2009
