Fatwa

Islamabad A group of clerics and religious scholars have issued a fatwa or edict that says 'jehad' will be obligatory for every Pakistani citizen in the event of any attack on the country by India.

The fatwa was announced at a conference organised by the Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat Mahaz at Jamia Naeemia seminary in Lahore on Monday. The meeting, chaired by Federal Minister Noorul Haq Qadri, was arranged to discuss Pakistan's security concerns in the face of ‘Indian war threats’.

Besides declaring that jehad would be obligatory for all Pakistanis in case of an attack by India, a communiqué issued by the clerics said the Pakistan government should end its support to the US war on terror on the western border in case of hostilities with India.

The conference demanded that Pakistan should "shrug off the Indian pressure and adopt a courageous and independent stance befitting a sovereign state". The clerics called on the government to "unveil the Indian conspiracies hatched against Pakistan before the world".

The communiqué said the clerics and scholars reaffirmed the "belief that the basic purpose of Pakistan's nuclear capability was to ensure the security of the country against any foreign aggression".

Pakistan valued its nuclear scientists, particularly A Q

Khan, the communiqu said. Besides the nuclear capability and defence preparations, the security of any country depended on its internal stability, it stated.

Jamia Naeemia's principal Sarfraz Naeemi said the TNRM will organise a rally in Lahore on January 14 to condemn the "anti-Muslim and aggressive policies" of Israel and India.

Besides Federal Minister Qadri, the conference was attended by leaders of political parties like the Pakistan People's Party, PML-N, PML-Q, Tehrik-e-Insaf, Sunni Tehrik, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan and Jamaat Ahle Sunnat.

Meanwhile, the hardline Jamaat-e-Islami has warned the Pakistan government about "India's hegemonic designs in the region with the support of Western powers". The Jamaat also said India would "suffer dearly in case of any misadventure".

"If India committed any aggression, it will not only suffer huge losses but also be responsible for the use of lethal nuclear weapons in the region," said a resolution passed by the Jamaat-e-Islami 'shoora' or council on Monday.

The resolution described the Mumbai attacks as "a 9/11-like international conspiracy through which the Indian and US rulers wanted to achieve their designs in the region".

It accused India's ruling Congress party of "resorting to inhuman and undemocratic tactics by creating fanaticism in Hindu-majority areas for the sake of winning elections".

The resolution expressed concern at the Pakistan government's "apologetic attitude and foreign policy" in the face of the aggressive designs of the "enemies".

The resolution added that "complete harmony" is needed between the Pakistan Army and the people for countering threats to the country. The resolution also condemned the banning of "patriotic welfare organisations" like the Jamaat-ud-Dawah, Al-Rasheed Trust, Al-Ameen Trust and Al-Akhtar Trust.

Pak clerics issue fatwa for jehad by V.Muthuswami on 06 Jan 2009

Despite many sensible and moderate Pakistanis, wanting to live in normal relationship with India, it is a sad fact that that country is in the grip of Hamas-DNA-Jihadis whose sole goal on this life is to destroy Infidel-Indians and attain hevenly-delights, alledgedly promised by their perceptor! And, regular life conduct in Pakistan has to be based on fatwas issued by mentally-degenerated Mullahs or clerics. Unfortunately, India will never be able to deal with such groups in the neighbourhood as long as this country is run by totally shamless unrepented politco-bureaucrats. These guys, aided

Nuclear Power by aj on 06 Jan 2009

Do people of Pakistan really understand the power of Nuclear energy?Nuclear is not synonyms with bomb or distruction.Today countries have come up ingenious idea's of using nuclear power to aid the civil society and not vice versa. Pakistan warns India against a nuclear attack. Is this some kind of a joke? By every virtue, India is 10 folds ahead of Pakistan. Indian believe in living life, barely 24 hours after the July 11 2006 mumbai blast, the trains were back in service and people started living life not fazed by terror attacks. India can give a fitting reply to Pakistan if attacked as it did previously. We really don’t care if Pakistan has issued a Fatwa against India. We are a billion, and we are prepared for any challenge. We grow by number, we grow by strength and when called upon we shall fend the mightiest threat, billion by number, united by one strength, derived by the love for our country- INDIA. India shal lnever stop or cease we epitomize life.

Poor Clerics by ravi on 06 Jan 2009

I wonder how novice these clerics are. Those supposed to teach peace abeting voilence. Future of pakistan already seems to be bleak and such clerics ensure that it remains bleak. As far as Nuclear bomb is concerned, pakistanis some how try to black mail on this issue. India never talks about nuclear bomb. Those who bark seldom bite. Surely using a nuclear bomb will wipe away a small part of India, but, will there be Pakistan anymore. Unfortunately, India has neighbour like Pakistan and fortunately India does not have clerics like Pakisatan has.

delete Pakistan by kum on 06 Jan 2009

Two possible reasons for India not deleting Pakistan. One of possible reason for India not deleting Pakistan from the world map could be because many Indians have relative in Pakistan. The second reason is well know, the vote bank politics. I have a feeling the most Indian have views that their religion/cast is above country. This is a good development and very soon India will be ruled by the great warriors (terrorist) of Pakistan. Do not be scared to hear one fine morning that the terrorist have overtaken whole of India.

Pakistan deserves a reply from India by Mohd Asif on 06 Jan 2009

Jehad - the other name of terorism by subburaj on 06 Jan 2009

Yes we should agreed with these clerics. Afterall Jehad - the other name of terrorism should be their full time job instead of part time. These cruiel animals in the name of religion how long will damage the human society? These people are curse on humanity, who will neither live in peace nor will let others to do so. Clean this menace.

Jehad by Shailesh Bhavsar on 06 Jan 2009

Islamic clerics in Pakistan are paranoid. They happened to day dream of a jehad and when nothing materialises to fulfill their desires, India becomes an easy target for sake of excuse. Sad to note the mind set of such clerics who should concentrate in preaching peace and harmony instead of inculcating jehadi culture. God Save Pakistan
