Islamabad President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday conferred one of Pakistan's highest civilian honours on US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher for his role in promoting ‘stable, broad-based and long-term’ bilateral ties.

The 'Hilal-i-Quaid-i-Azam' award was presented to Boucher by Zardari at a special ceremony in the Aiwan-e-Sadr or presidential palace in Islamabad.

The citation read out on the occasion said, "As Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Ambassador Boucher has been instrumental in promoting a stable, broad-based and long-term Pakistan-US relationship.

Boucher has been visiting Pakistan frequently for deepening bilateral cooperation in diverse areas as well as promoting shared objectives for regional peace, stability and prosperity."

The US Assistant Secretary of State thanked the government for conferring the award on him.

Boucher is visiting Islamabad to hold talks with the country's political leadership to take forward the investigations into the Mumbai terror strikes and ease tensions between India and Pakistan.

Boucher bows low by Hero Vaz on 14 Jan 2009

Boucher is, indeed, shameless for accepting an award from the sponsors of world terrorism. It is surprising he does not see it as an insult. Maybe, his background is the answer.

BOUCHER BRIBED ??? by ANIYAN on 05 Jan 2009

IT IS SENSIBLE IF THE OUTGOING AMERICAN PRESIDENT OR THE STATE SECRETARY IS CONFERRED WITH THIS AWARD. BOUCHER IS A LESS KNOWN STATE DEPT OFFICIAL, WHO WENT TO PAKISTAN NOT TO RECEIVE THE AWARD AS THERE WAS NO SUCH PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. HE WENT THERE TO HOLD DISCUSSION WITH THEM ON THE WORLD'S COMPLAINT OF PAKISTAN'S DIRECT INVOLVEMENT IN THE TERROR ATTACK IN MUMBAI IN WHICH 190 INNOCENT LIVES WERE LOST. AT THIS OCCASSION IF THAT COUNTRY IF CONFERRING AN AWARD ON HIM AND HE IS ACCEPTING IT, IT IS NOTHING LESS THAN A BRIBE. PAKISTANI LEADERS, THE BRIBE HERO (MR.10%, AS HIS OWN COUNTRY CALL HIM) PRESIDENT ZARDARI AND OTHERS WILL BE LAUGHING AT BOUNCHER TO HAVE MADE HIM A FOOL AND RETURNING HIM EMPTY HANDED WITHOUT COMPLETING HIS TASK, FOR WHICH HE WAS DEPUTED BY THE AMERICAN GOVT.

Pakistan trying to bribe US?

Is it a bribe? by (Dr.) B.N.Anand on 05 Jan 2009

Sir Is it a sort of bribe which Pakistan is giving to an active US top official for the world'd only superpower to go slow on the investigations regarding Mumbai carnage? Pakistan must be feeling the heat of US pressure in this regard.

PATHETIC PAKISTAN by s thulasidharan on 05 Jan 2009

Now dont think about giving the Bharat Ratna to him as India need not go after them in this way to beg for the survival. We are going to be the next economic superpower !
