Karachi, July 4: Shoaib Akhtar got a temporary reprieve with the Lahore High Court suspending the 18-month ban on the temperamental pacer on Friday, while it maintained the Rs Seven million fine on him.

Shoaib was initially slapped a five-year ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board for several disciplinary violations but the pacer appealed and an appellate tribunal subsequently reduced it to 18 months, while slapping the Rs seven million fine.

Shoaib was not happy with the tribunal verdict and he filed a writ petition against the ban in the court last month. The legal advisor for the board, Tafazzul Rizvi said he had not seen the full order of the court but the board would respect the decision.

The court suspended the ban till it meets again in September after the summer vacation.
