Pakistan may allow Indian investigators to ‘grill’ the Mumbai attack suspects after being provided with ‘sufficient evidence’ of their involvement in the deadly strikes, but will not hand them over to New Delhi, a media report said in Islamabad on Sunday.

"At the most, Pakistan could permit the Indians to grill the people now under detention and being questioned by the Pakistani authorities and blamed by New Delhi for a key role in the Mumbai carnage.

"However, there is no likelihood that they will be handed over to India," a senior unnamed Pakistani official was quoted as saying by 'The Nation' newspaper.

Lashkar-e-Toiba operations commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, the suspected mastermind of the Mumbai attack, and its communications specialist Zarar Shah are among the militants detained in Pakistan in the wake of the Mumbai attacks.

Pakistan has turned down repeated demands from India for them to be handed over to New Delhi. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday said: "India does not want war with Pakistan but it must hand over the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks."

But, the Pakistani official said that instead of indulging in "a blame-game," India should provide substantial evidence about the involvement of Lakhvi, Shah or any other person in the Mumbai attacks to Pakistan.

If this is done, Indian investigators could be given access to the wanted persons on Pakistani soil, he added.

The official said the same went for law enforcement or investigation agencies from across the world. "But the main thing is sufficient evidence proving the involvement of those who are being blamed," the official said.

He said Pakistan was carrying out its own investigations into the Mumbai attacks and was ready for a joint probe with India. So far, there had been no response from India to Pakistan's offer for a joint probe, he said.

Questioning of Pakis by S.Ramamurthi on 05 Jan 2009

Pskis are at it again with usual deceiption! What is the use of questioning the Paki criminals at their country? Will they comeout with the truth especially the ISI will do what all needed to hide the facts as in the case of Kasab's family. It is too fresh to forget what Pak did to hide the fact the Mumbai attack criminals are Pakis.A nation which lives on hatred and plain lies will never allow the criminals to tell the truth. The criminals should be brought to India and questioned in an appropriate manner.Pakis will never tell the truth in their soil.

Affermative Action by Shivaji on 05 Jan 2009

Launch missions to liquidate militants in Pakistan. Met out instant justice. Publically hang the terrorists and throw the bodies in the ocean so that no memorial can be built.

Public handing by Afzal Ahmed on 05 Jan 2009

Public hanging near taj is the best. Leave the body to the public to handle. Instent action should be done. No need for all these talks. Enough of this drama. Next time anybody wants to come over they should know what they are going to face.

Indian terror Policy by Joseph on 05 Jan 2009

Once Mrs Gandhi given an inter view to American TV. She said I am not Anti American or Pro Russian but I am a Pro Indian. How many Indian politicians are Pro Indians .? This is the time we mean business in Global power sharing. After shock awe let diplomacy go to work.

Investigating Mumbai attcks by Vijayan on 05 Jan 2009

At the most, Pakistan will allow Indian Investigators a get together party wherein they can ask soft questions! What a shamful affair this investigation has become? India cannot deal with these bad elements nor they are not to be allowed to step on this soil. India needs a firm promise that the soil of Pakistan will not be used to bring misery to Indian people henceforth. A stout warning must also be given that if at any time Mumbai type attack happens India will retaliate instantly without giving any chance for negotiation. It is for the Pakistani government and their so called inobedient military to take care of that. Thats all!

Hand over by Jay on 05 Jan 2009

Coward and Impotent by Ahmed Ahmed on 05 Jan 2009

The Cowardic act by a neibouring jealous country is apreciated. Obevously there is no comparison of potency between us. We all know where both the counties are going. Yes but a difference, we are civilised and cutured. We will act- but think first. When we act. We will smoke out all the potent cowards out of the hole. You please go back and watch bollywood movice as your country has nothing to offer for you. Jai Hind

Impotant by PS on 05 Jan 2009

impotant ahmed, did you or your country human covered animals know anything about diplomacy, Is everything to fight, kill in your dictionary? One of the reason India did not strike your evil land, is your fragile country is ruled by rouge, irresponsible, illiterate ... leaders, they can not control. That will lead to internal destabilization. Terrorists will come down to the street they will your own people. Your evil country will go back to the stone age from iron age. This is why responsible world leaders asks Indian leader to restrain. Try to learn make not to destroy.

'Pak may let India quiz suspects; won't hand over' by SK on 05 Jan 2009

I think India should not accept such offer because Pakistan has told that they would not hand over those arrested suspects. Just by talking to them under kind of semi-protection from the government only thing may happen is Pakistan grabing media coverage again. India should insist for hand over. Also on the basis of Indian and other countries collective evidence India should demand for Terror status for Pakistan in the UNSC.

'Pak may let India quiz suspects; won't hand over' by Sunny P on 05 Jan 2009

Just keep the pressure on till we get what we want. Pakistan wants to do a strip show and peel one layer after another. What after we have interrogated... If the culprits are still in Pakistans hands, there is no guarantee that they will be penalised whatever we unearth during the interrogation.

'Pak may let India quiz suspects; won't hand over' by Manu on 05 Jan 2009

Why we are wasting time with Pak authorities. These are the same people who are happy to see India suffer. Do not trust these people. Hatred runs in their vein. Excuses are the only things that India would get from Pak autorities. Grow up. You have to depend on yourself only.Words or ironclad guarntees mean "zero", absolute "0". Other attacks would follow soon.Last few years hae witnessed so many.Same cycle would repeat unless India takes postive action.

Stop playing games with us Pakistan! by ajay on 05 Jan 2009

This is a big farce. Time we got tough on Pakistan and stop them form having us "chase our tails".Time we learned some lessons from the Israelis on how to stand up to the Islamo facists

Pakistan's role in Mumbai carnage by Kalpathy Venkataraman on 04 Jan 2009

What is Pakistan afraid of? I believe it will expose the nexus between the ISI, Pakistan's rogue army, LeT, JeM and other terrorist organization. Perhaps, Zardari and Gilani are scared that the ISI and Pak army will depose them if the culprits are handed over to India. In that case, India's option should be preemptive strike against the terrorist targets in Pakistan, even if it leades to the possibility of a nuclear war. Just like cancer cells require aggressive therapy, so is terrorism. The current "no action" policy on the part of UPA will only embolden Pakistan's adventures further as it gives an impression that India is an impotent country and incapable of defending itself.

Who is running the government of Ppakistan by nagamoney on 04 Jan 2009

V ery good joke the world is having at the hand of Pakistan seemingly governing body , in their word of reply , that they will allow to gril but will not allow to get them be punished. These words , with out any doubt, clearly depitcts the imbroligo these apparent governing bodies of Pakistan are having at the Terrorists and their doll, ISI and Millitary junta. Obstruction of getting financial help to Pakistan is the best defencive policy to bring then to sense to co operate with India and US and other intermediatery countries,

how can a thief be asked to safeguard something precious? by NATARAJAN on 04 Jan 2009

joint investigation means giving proof to the criminal. let us face it. ensure they are financially crippled. once begging bowl is in hands it will not be free to wield the gun. make them an outcaste in the comity of nations. already they are our buffer zone against Taliban's pan islamic india ambitions. no country advocating state sponsored terrorism can live in peace. they will be consumed by the fire they started. watch the decay of society.

comment by A J on 04 Jan 2009

Thanks Mr Gilani. If you cant hand them over then we shall arrange for them to be snatched or killed soon. India is extremly pleased at the support Pakistan has offered since 26/11 to us. We surely kmow how much more cooperation to expect from a cowarldy and terrorist country like Pakistan. Do you see much difference betwen your nation and Somalia or Afghanistan for example....except for your nuclear arsenal.

Pak won't Hand over but India can Quiz by SK on 04 Jan 2009

India should not accept this "Quiz" offer since nothing will be achieved out of that and in fact that may give Pakistan more legitimate justification of action. India should call for UNSC session since there is now enough evidence gathered not only by Indian Investigators but their counterparts from US , UK etc. India should start focus on the demand for declaring Pakistan as a Terror State and nothing less!

PAK THE BARBARIAN-PART 1 by krishna on 04 Jan 2009

It would utterly be absurd to assume that Pak will accept its complicity and join india to prosecute these barbarians. What we must understand with conviction is that the whole episodeof mumbai carnage, in many ways is furthering the very raison d,tre of pak existence-HATRED. Will the accused ever agree with the prosecutor? It is the judge that we should try to convice-the world community at large with US at the helm and seek for maximum punishment.Difficult task, but the only way out.Public opinion must be mobilsed on following lines:1.Cut off all kinds of ties-Cultural,commerce,diplomatic,sports and even bollywood. There is no scope of any relation with a country whose all instituitions have united to creat such a big lie against us.Simply put, treat the enemy as an enemy.2.Dercognise indus-valley water sharing agrreement unilateraly, cut off flow of water from our rivers to pak. When ur enemy dont give a damnn to us, y shud we be bothered of honuring agreement with such barbarians .

pakistans double speak by xavi on 04 Jan 2009

the question is 'to trust or not to'just the typical two faced persona that he is,a perfect puppet. One day he says something ,the next day its the reverse.guess our neighbours have chosen the perfect person to represent them, perfectly reflects the country and its political mindset. the foreign minister is a rare breed,a perfect actor, would have done well in some punjabi comedy movie. atal behari vajpayee once said 'we need good neighbours, cause they come to the rescue first, not the relatives who live far',well in our case we have neighbours we cant even trust, forget the least of virtues.

An evil neighbour called Pakistan by Indian on 04 Jan 2009

Shocking that Pakistan the land of the Devil himself, has no compunctions sending squalid Jehadis to India to maim and murder innocents, but has grave reservations about handing them over to India even when presented with damning evidence! They don't even want to hand over Indian citizens like Dawood Ibrahim! Honestly,we have an evil nation of the first order for our neighbour!Just our bad luck!Hope every single Pakistani goes to hell many times over to pay for all the deaths and destruction caused by them. There is no doubt they love to hate us,for no reason.
