Pak 'most dangerous country' of the world: US Rep leader

Washington Stating that Pakistan is the "most dangerous country" of the world, a top Republican leader said that the rapidly increasing influence of the

Taliban in that country may break its back.

"I think, personally, that Pakistan is the most dangerous country in the world," Republican leader and the former Speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich told a local news channel in an interview. Gingrich said Pakistan today has more nuclear weapons available than Iran or Korea will have in a decade. "We don't know what's going to happen there," he said. "What people have to worry about is not that the Taliban is going to come out in the open field with an army. What they have to worry about is that every week that goes by more and more Islamist extremists in the cities are migrating to join the Taliban. And you may presently see an explosion in the cities," Gingrich argued.

He said Pakistan is now a country that has nuclear weapons and "hates" India, next door, "doesn't particularly" like Afghanistan because its President Hamid Karzai was educated in India and has a deep distrust of the US. "I think people have to understand how dangerous this is," he added.

Worried about what's going to happen in Pakistan, Gingrich said: "None of the indicators are good. There's no indicator that we are gaining ground in Pakistan. If you lose Pakistan, you're going to lose Afghanistan because you have no corridor to get there. You have no capacity to sustain your logistics."

The former House Speaker said a whole generation of Pakistan Army officials, in particular younger ones, find themselves closer to the Taliban ideology. "People I talk to say, because the US Congress cut off all military education for a decade, there's a whole generation of younger officers who have no real connection in the US. And so when you get below the general officers to the Colonels and the Majors and the Lieutenant Colonels, you're seeing people who are more extremist, more anti-American, more potentially capable of a coup," he argued.

India is the arch enemy of Pakistan by Sunil Sinha on 27 Apr 2009

Pakistan the day when it was created has always considered India as the arch enemy. It has lost several wars, got East Pakistan dismembered in to Bangladesh. Pakistan has been unable to make Kashmir as an international issue and has tried several times to invade. Today's Taliban is a creation of Pakistan (along with US)who have been ditched after 9/11. The same Taliban feels betrayed and Pakistan being an ally on war of terror, Taliban wants to defeat Pakistan, attacking the Marriott Hotel, Sri Lankan cricket team and the Police Academy in Lahore. Most wanted Al-Qeida and Taliban roam freely in Pakistan. Several TV channels have shown Pakistan army abandoning their post in border when attacked by insurgents. In "FRONT LINE" a Pakistan army tank retreating back when extremist launched an offensive attack. The whole Pakistan army which went to attack returned back. One of the Pakistan army officer stated "how can we fight and kill our own muslim brothers"? A surprising statement, where as Taliban has no mercy in killing and beheading Pakistani army men and police.

Hatred Keeps Them Alive by Raman Sharma on 26 Apr 2009

Anything that is born out of hate, is always dangerous. Hatred further makes one opt for all bad and horrific ways to keep it alive, and this is the hard fact of Pakistan. Until unless good sense prevails on them, they will carry the show as it is. Create terrorist, train them, dispatch them over the neighbour's borders and feel good at plight of innocent lives. This is 100% the most dangerous part of the world.
