New Delhi Contending that ‘overwhelming’ evidence suggests involvement of Pakistan's official agencies in the Mumbai attacks, India has said Islamabad is neither pursuing this angle nor allowing the FBI to do so.

Home Minister P Chidambaram also pointed out that Pakistan has not shared any information it may have got from interrogation of people detained in that country in connection with 26/11.

He underlined that India will ‘apply pressure’ and use ‘coercive diplomacy’ to ensure that perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks are brought to justice.

"Given the overwhelming evidence that we have, I am entitled to presume that official agencies of Pakistan were involved in the Mumbai attacks," Chidambaram told Karan Thapar's 'Devil's Advocate' programme.

He said that presumption can be ‘rebutted only if evidence to the contrary is available in the investigation’. Asked whether the evidence that points finger towards official agencies of Pakistan is ‘conclusive or very suggestive’, the Home Minister said, "That I cannot say now. That will require investigation on Pakistan soil.”

"It will require going to the controllers, the handlers and then interrogating them and finding out that whether they had masters of their own. That access has not been given to us."

Pak not probing... by Sunil on 22 Mar 2009

Gutless, spineless hizdas of the Indian government can never get any respect from anyone in the world. Indian military should take over the responsibility of protecting the country in their own hands and eliminate the terrorists and their training camps immediately. And in this process there is collatoral damage on either side, then so be it. At least Indians can hold their head high and be respected by the world. Jai Hind

Congree party is a blot on nation for job performance by JP on 21 Mar 2009

Chidambaram must take the moral responsibility and step down for failing Indians. Pakistan is not probing 26-11 and has no desire to probe it. Your party proclaimed the deadlines, demarches, 'war is not the solution' and all other hoopla. You have reduced the common man on street to a pure looser and are asking the voter, the same common man to vote for you!! At the same time, you expect the man on street to lay his life anytime anywhere at hands of jehadists. Great job of 8% GDP cookup numbers. Thank you for your service. Now please go to home and enjoy dosa and idlis.

Pak probe 26/11 by SK on 21 Mar 2009

The steam of the 26/11 is dying with the time passing and that is the startegy Pak is following. India needs to keep this issue not only alive but also hogging a constant International media attention. I think this is not being done 'effectively'!
