Pak not to extradite terror suspects to India

Islamabad Pakistan has rejected India's demand for extradition of the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks, saying there was no extradition treaty between the two countries.

"There is no extradition treaty between India and Pakistan. We are keen on rebuilding our internal institutions. So if we engage in these issues, it will be harmful for Pakistan," Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told ‘Geo TV’.

He was asked whether India and America have made demands for handing over terror suspects -- Lashkar-e-Toiba operations commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azar and Hafiz Mohammed Saeed.

Qureshi's remarks assume significance in the wake of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee saying on Thursday that there was no need for an Extradition Treaty to take action on these matters.

Pakistan is yet to demonstrate "tangible" action against the perpetrators though it is obliged to do so under international laws, Mukherjee had said.

Qureshi said Pakistan has conducted its own "independent investigations" into the charges of Pakistani elements involved in the Mumbai terror strikes. "We will do everything in the interests of India and Pakistan," he said.

Asked about the Wall Street Journal report which quoted Pakistani government sources saying that a LeT commander had confessed that all terrorists who attacked Mumbai were Pakistanis, Qureshi said "I think I don't believe that Government sources are involved here."

Stating that terrorism was a common enemy, the Minister said Pakistan and India should defeat it together. "Terrorism is our common enemy. We have to defeat it together. Pakistan is always ready for constructive cooperation," Qureshi said.

This moron like Ahmed who has commented in this blog or letter should be hanged in indian soil. Idiots like him have the audacity to eat Indian salt and stab us at the back. I wish his parents were injured or killed by these recent terror and what would Ahmed say?

Eliminate Pakistani Terrorists by Sanjay Srivastava on 03 Jan 2009

Naturally, Pakistan will not extradite the terrorists. This is beacuse 90% of the Pakistani population are terrorists. This will create a lot of logistical problems. Why not let the terrorists remain in Pakistan and have an understanding with Isrealis to eliminate them in Pakistan itself. Less headache for all!!

Pak not to extradite terror suspects to India by KSTiwari on 03 Jan 2009

The present leadership is propped up by these terrorist outfits. They are the real kingmakers who can make or break the govt. in power. In turn, the US is playing its own game by supporting them for its own gains. As such it is useless for the Indian govt. to carry out any negotiations with them. In fact there seems to be no light at the end of the peace tunnel. I wonder where this deadlock will lead to?

Birds of a feather by Hero Vaz on 02 Jan 2009

Terror suspects are in good company in Pak. Birds of a feather flock together.

DON'T WORRY, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN by Murthy on 02 Jan 2009

I do not think that any Indian (in India or outside) believes that its leaders are courageous enough or smart enough to do anything meaningful to stop terrorism. Look the Govt didn't care about Mumbai attackers but issuing statements in support of Hamas (against Israel, who came to help us), they didn't have Radar to monitor our Gateway of India but had already sent Radars to help Sri Lanka (who didn't care but want to play cricket match with Pak).

PAK ALMOST ADMITS GUILT, BUT INDIA... by RAVI K on 02 Jan 2009

NO ONE IN THE WORLD BELEIVED THAT PAK WILL ADMIT ITS CITIZENS OR GOVT INVOLVED IN MUMBAI ATTACK EXCEPT PERHAPS MUKHERJEE

Pak not to extradite terror suspects to India by P T Suresh on 02 Jan 2009

Should India be surprised? I do not think so! When we do not respect the life of our own people and do not know how to protect those life, we should have any room for surprises. You need a nationalist government with full majority for 10 years to address such issues of national security. Let us wait and see who we vote in April/May 2009. That will decide whether our life will be respected or not.

Indians have No Guts by Ahmed on 02 Jan 2009

In the light of comments by some radical indians and their vehement tirade, it seems india has dreadful fear from ISI of Pakistan. It's just because indians are impotent to produce such efficient, strong force to protect her, indian government presented ISI to indian masses as a monster figure. However ISI is performing it's job to protect Pakistan from sinister and evil designs of india and your ally isreal.Pakistan is not iraq nor afghanistan that india can come and attack, Pakistan is a country of 180 millions strongs.Remember in case of any aggression from indian, all the Taliban army would be diverted towards india, and then we know from the past experiences that indians don't have enought Balls

War option by J.M.Manchanda on 02 Jan 2009

It is surprising that there are voices from Pakistan glorifying such barbaric and violent acts, which are being perpetrated by terrorists. The Pakistani govt., media and ISI seems to be working in tandem to shift attention from its loss of control over NWFP and Swat valley, which are the breeding ground of international terror. Unless Pakistan changes course and eliminates terror-building infrastructure, which seems unlikely, there may be a co-ordinated attack on it . Pakistan is on a course of self-destruction and India should only faclitate it by not providing it with an excuse to shift attention from its western borders. However, if it begins a war, which cannot be ruled out, as a result of its isolation, India should hit back with a vengeance.

Source of Terrorism by Harinder Singh on 02 Jan 2009

India should not be in any confusion now. We need to beef up our own security set up to fight the terrorists. No country in the world is going to help us in this, worst of all - Pakistan - the source of terrorism in the world. Also we need to spruce up our judicial system and avoid politicking while fighting Terrorism.

Playing Dangerous Games by Raj on 02 Jan 2009

I think Pakistan is playing very dangerous games with India, It needs to understand that whole country's mind set towards Pakistan until 26/11 was some what tolerant and friendly but now it is changing and people are harbouring all sorts of ill fate towards Pakistan. I fear that If Pakistan doesn't come clean on this issue, it will lose the liberal voices and many of its friends in the country. What it also means that whatever both countries have done to normalise relations goes in vain and relations can get worse. The fall out of this scenario can lead to serious consequences for both countries and especially so for pakistan. I also fear that Pakistan as a country can collapse and fall prey to talibanisation. The liberal voices and secular forces are at stake here. The social fabric of Pakistan is quite different and taking action against some faction can disintegrate the country. But it is better than getting talibanised and international forces bombing it to stone age.

Thanks for your concern by Paki nuke on 02 Jan 2009

We are deeply touched by your concern Raj...but let us assure you that we have not made nukes so taht we can gift them to India but we have build them to use them over India incase of collapse be it by the hands of other world powers...Let me reiterate myself We will use the nukes over India if anything happens to us...so don't deceive yourselves..

Nukes? by KaY P on 03 Jan 2009

I'm sure no Indian is under the deception that a war with Pakistan would most probably result in a catastrophic nuclear war in the subcontinent. The only irony is that Indians need to understand that Pakistan's nukes are not aimed at the so called "secular" India, it is rather aimed at the destruction of the last remaining vestige of Hindu civilization that Islam has been destructing since 1000 years. This would imply that a nuclear attack on India would mean a retaliation on every major muslim country in the world from Damascus, Khartoum, Tehran and Istanbul along with engulfing the whole of Pakistan and the despicable joke of a country, Afghanistan. Pakistan's nuclear attack on India would also mean the end of Islam as we know it. India should turn Pakistan's own game on Pakistan itself. IF WE GO DOWN, THEN WE TAKE ISLAM WITH US. Now you probably be ready with some answers for the ummah rather then keeping them in deception, Mr Paki Nuke master.

Big mouth by Nunge Log on 02 Jan 2009

Who are you to articulate Pakistan's policy? I thought A A Zardari spoke of "no first use of nukes" by Pakistan. This is the problem with your country. No one seems to be in charge. Your people are fed on ISI fodder which is hate and lies against India - the only thing that unites you Pakis and ensures ISI and army cadres keep themselves in cushy jobs.

Thanks for your concern by anand on 02 Jan 2009

did you decieve your self by thinking what will happen to pakistan in the event of a nuclear war with India? Instead of poisoning the message board with such threats, do something constructive- build bridges, understand the reality of our region and try not to inflame the allready volatile atmosphere. you are saying (I will die as long as) I can kill you.I am sure you are more intelligent than that! and use your real name.

Pak not to extradite terror suspects to India by Jagan Mohan on 02 Jan 2009

US cannot push Pakistan for any concrete action. Its in a grip of fear of losing control over the region (spanning Afghanistan--Pakistan) to Islamic militant groups and wants to be seen to the world as a responsible power (if not SUPER) who has delicately handled this situation. India should learn to strike hard like Isreal does and for that matter India will have a greater support across the world if it goes ahead with this surgical strikes and in fact would bring in a new world order. Most of the third world countries and a few developed economies would wish India takes the lead here and stops looking towards US to deliver.

PAKIS REFUSING TO LISTEN by harun on 02 Jan 2009

just heard reports that USA has agreed with pakistan not to extrdiate terrorists of mumbai. We have had enogh with both they seem to be having the same agenda that is to weaken india.I dont believe that the US is applying the same rules that allows ISRAEL to bomb HAMAS.The whole dam thing is getting murky and INDIA is getting no were.THE F--KIN PAKEES are getting brazenly audacious. The AMERICANS are playing games.ITS NO WAY things can continue like this.JUST STOP THE RIVERS THAT FLOW INTO PAKISTAN WHAT THE BLEEDY HELL ARE U WAITING FOR MANMOHAN OK NOT GOOD TO GO TO WAR BUT U CAN DO THIS.JUST DO IT.LET THE OPPOSITION COME OUT WITH THIS IDEA.ITS A GREAT OPTION STARVE THEM TO ETERNITY.

Zazba my foot! by Harinder Singh on 02 Jan 2009

What Zajba are u talking about? In 1971 more than 90,000 of your soldiers surrendered and you lost East Pakistan! Perhaps you want to lose whatever is remaining now?

keep out from war otherwise history never spare us by defender on 02 Jan 2009

All this is sensless, people in India know that their army have no courage to fight a war although they are larger in number but wars are fought with Jazba not with arms and this Jazaba is alway in the muslims if someone attack them. We don't want a war with india and people of pakistan want peace and brotherly relation but some countries do not want to see welfare of sub-continent and they are in search of this type incidents but I think India and Pakistan never do anthing which is totally leade to destruction because this war may be last for both the country and history nevery spare us for our folly.

Pak not to extradite terrorist by Ajay, Pune on 02 Jan 2009

It wouldn't be a surprise if Pakistan declares that they have tried xyz, found guilty and has been on record, sent to jail!! the guy will be out planning next attacks. End of story. We can't live with this $hit coming from the Cradle of Terror (Pakistan).

SIT TOGETHER AND CREATE A PAKISTAN POLICY by Indian on 02 Jan 2009

All this is expected. 1) We need to have a "Pakistan Policy" that is independent of which ever party comes to power at the center. Major parties, Congress and BJP, and senior bureocrats need to sit down and create this policy 2) All parties, especially Congress, should agree NEVER to dilute the war on terror to satisfy vote-banks. Once these two things are in place, politicians and bureocrats will have a solid framework within which they can initiate certain actions. Otherwise, our dealing with Pakistan will continue to be victim of expediency and inefficiency.

This is the year 2009 and not 1200 by Nautankee on 02 Jan 2009

If a women loves a man then they stone her to death, and when their men commits acts of terror around the world then they protect them. What is it you want to preach the world Pakistan? One one cannot bomb you to stone ages, because you are already living in them.

Who lives in stone age? by Paki Power on 02 Jan 2009

My friend Nautankee i am afraid you are living in stone age because it is you who worships stones and man made statues not us...and secondly you don't know $hit about international politics otherwise you won't be talking such crap. Let me remind you that in your country 35% of the people are still living below the poverty line.

Poverty Line by Adi on 02 Jan 2009

In India 35% are below poverty line but in Pak only 35% are above poverty line.

poverty line by RGN on 02 Jan 2009

and they are begging fom the IMF now.what irony.

Pakistan rjects extraditing by megh on 02 Jan 2009

let us cease diplomatic relations with pakistan for starters; we then go on to impose economic and naval blockade thereby choking the conomy; pakistan is not in a state to sustain itself with out trade and xternal assistance. they will rot anyways. no need to wage a war. just starve them to death.

Smelly Cowards by Defender on 02 Jan 2009

Stop these threats and attack us you cowards if you have the guts and courage because we are anxiously waiting to cook some smelly Indian curry.

what a joke by muwahid on 02 Jan 2009

Pak's refusal by Avinash Baranwal on 02 Jan 2009

It is not at all a surprise.Perhaps, still out Politicians would like to continue talks...Pakistan will do nothing which goes in favour of Pakistan. Such nations understands the iron hand dealings. But then, it requires, a gut...a self respect...a bold decision...like Israel or even china...Our politicians are poets, visionary...academicians...and not some one who knows what an ACTION is called. Such incidents just put us in shame in front of the world...whom we say we are a power...

pakÅ› refusal by its not right on 02 Jan 2009

yes avinash, what you have said here is the actual fact, our politicians are mere poets. When people are suffering and dying they incapable of taking any decisive steps to avoid such a situation in the future even at such a stage. Such events will be repeated and our government will just sit on it. Who needs a government which cannot protect their people and land, they are more worried about their political career and their parties future. Its high time for them to do something for their nation and its people. At least i think there is one leader - Bal Thackery, who feels more pain in this matter than any other politicans. We should blame our politicians rather than anyone.

Congress and Pak should decide, extradite criminals or Pay $2billion for victims of Mumbai blasts by Sarath on 02 Jan 2009

Pak should either extradited these criminals to India or if Pak still claiming no extradition agreement, then first extradited to US (because US citizens died in Mumbai Taj blasts) and then to India or first UK to India. If Pak is playing with tongue, india should start cunning agenda to thwart all pak designs and lies. Indian gov. should give Two options to Pak, either extradite who involved in Mumbai blasts or pay $2billion dollars just like Ghaddafi gov. in Libiya who involved in Lockerbee flight bomb he sincerely agreed Libiyan gov. involvement and paid that money to the families of who died in Lockerbee blast. There is no way Pak can escape from this attrocities. If Congress gov. failed to take any action or Pak gov. escape from this criminal act, indian public never forget what Congress is acting infront of the public and behind its cunning agenda to get muslim vote bank politics. Congress and Pak should decide.

force pak, not request for action by virender yadav on 02 Jan 2009

Step by step pak is moving excatly as if nothing big has happened and may be planning another attack. Our govt is behaving as weak and helpless and only counting on USA support. Why should US fight for us, did we support them even for refuelling of their fighters when they attacked Afghanistan? We did not support them as our politicians of the day felt that in indian muslims may not like it. Now please do not expect anything tangible from USA as they will take action what is in their interest and not our interest. Simply statements by FM, Defence minister and PM will really not help. The mumbai attack from pak was not planned and executed by non state actors alone but it was a planned operation against india by their state machinery may be civilian govt uware of it.SO WE WILL HAVE TO BE INDEPENDENT OF USA IN THIS REGARD, FORCE PAK TO BEAHAVE NOT REQUEST.

Invade pak Manmohan, if you have not sold self-esteem of your father, mother and sister. by Dr. Satya on 02 Jan 2009

pak, a terrorist nation, is just trying to use India (a nation which can be fooled easily) to deceive western powerful nations that it is working against the terrorists. India case will be just one of the cases in his accountibility submitted to western powerful nations. UPA is just trying to fool Indian masses that it is trying to defend them from terrorists, whereas UPA, standing upon islamic terrorists-supporters' vote, cannot act against islamic terrorists. In this whole anti-terror mechanism game, winners are pak and UPA. Loosers are only Indian unintelligent masses, who should prepare themselves for another terrorists strike. This Hindu nation is fighting for last 13 hundred years with islamic goons and thugs, since Mir Qasim of Syria/Gaza desecrated (by garlanding deity with cow flesh), looted and demolished famous Sun temple of Multan and forced Sindh Hindus to convert to islam. Let's have an all out final war, kill 150 million pakis and take revenge against last 1300 years

Invade Pak by Sher Singh on 02 Jan 2009

You don't need war to defeat Pakis, just block all the water of five rivers Beas, Ravi, Sutlej, Chenab and Jhelum which are feeding most of the paki's going to Pakistan through India Punjab and let these Paki's die without water. After holding river water in Indian Dams, when water come close to flood level, open up the dams all the paki's get flush in to Indian Ocean

Pakistan by Mohan on 02 Jan 2009

Dont expect any thing positive from this terrorist nation. They have only terrorist manufactering unti through out pakistan. Now time has come, israel like attack is necessaity and need of the hour.

Pakistan - a dunghill by Anand Prakash on 02 Jan 2009

Why are you even reporting this gibberish dished out by Pakistan. their politicians and army are consumate liars! their puerile logic does not merit coverage in any newspaper.
