Pakistan players will not be a part of IPL season II after the government barred them from travelling to India on 'security grounds'.
The Pakistan skipper said after watching Englishmen Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff fetch a record-breaking USD 1.55 million each in yesterday's auction, he wondered whether his country's cricketers were paid less last season.
Flintoff and Pietersen would be able to play just three weeks of the six-week tournament that is scheduled in April.
"Unlike other countries particularly Pakistan where players rushed to get into the IPL, the English cricket board and their players avoided the first season. As a result, their demand has increased for the second season," he said.
"In contrast Pakistani players have got themselves a raw deal from the IPL. Look at Sohail Tanvir he was brought for just around USD 100,000 and he was the best bowler in the first season. Yet he has to manage with the same amount for the rest of his contract with Rajasthan Royals.
"In comparison to Pakistani players even local Indians fetched bigger prices, which was surprising. Someone like Misbah-ul Haq, who was the best Twenty20 batsman last season, hardly got a reasonable price," Younis pointed out.
Younis said another reason why the English players attracted such interest from the franchisees was the highly competitive Twenty20 domestic structure in England, which makes them a specialist of the shortest format of the game.
"English players are comparatively thought to be better Twenty20 cricketers because they first started this format at the domestic level," he explained.
"No one knows if the Pakistan board gained anything from recommending players for the IPL. Like in the case of the English cricketers whose counties or board will get a share of the amount for which their players sell to franchises," Younis said.
Younis feels India has gained the most from the IPL and its positive effects are beginning to show in the performance of their national team, which is on a nine-ODI unbeaten streak.
"Don't be mistaken. All this talk about players earning lot of money from the IPL I think Indian cricket has gained the most from the league in terms of improving their cricket standards and structure," Younis said on Geo Super sports channel.
He said the presence of top players alongside young and established Indian cricketers has helped raise the standard of the game there.
"The effect has been that Team India has improved dramatically and one can see they are a changed side," Younis said.

It seems Vijay Mallya is making another mistake. KP is not worth that kind of money. He performed very poorly in the T20 match in the carribean despite all the publicity. His performance as captain is poor to say the least apart from a few early successes.
Blame your country and countrymen.
I have been noticing the write-ups of fanatics in your viewers forum. There are terrorists in both countries. Don't forget Gujrat, Samjohta Express etc. Terrorism must be condemned outrightly in any form. However, general public is not terrorist. Wisdom must prevail in all circumstances. You in India must never be attacked by any outside terrorist, your own culture and crime rates are sufficient to make India a country of living deads.
Even if there are terrorists on both sides, in India, they are not government sponsored. In India, the government does not get into the denial mode. Our intelligence agencies do not sponsor them. They are not a part of our strategic planning. That's the difference between India and Pakistan. Your chicken are going to come home to roost sooner than you think. Your people are already into the "Klanshinkov culture" and with the spread of weapons and drug money, your civil society is going to be destroyed very soon.
Started reading your mail with interest before realising I am reading another mail from a fanatic. We have enough fanatics on this side, don't need more of your type!
No pakistani players should be allowed to play in any cricket,let it be IPL, ICL or for that matter in any cricket tournament in India.We can not allow these" terrorist tainted countries players" to earn from India and to use the same money to destruct India in indirectways by sending terrorists.
