Karachi National team players and Pakistan Cricket Board officials and will now have to seek permission from the Board before making any public statement under a new PCB policy formulated by its chairman Ejaz Butt.

Under the new policy, PCB employees and members of the national team will have to take prior permission from PCB Director (Human Resource) Wasim Bari before interacting with the media, one source in the Board said.

The PCB has included stiff penalties in the new service rules for officials and central contracts for players in this regard and those violating the new policy could attract fines of up to 500,000 rupees.

The board had recently barred its players from giving comments on the Indian Premier League.

The Board has also made it clear that it will not tolerate any of its employees from giving unauthorized interviews or statements in the media or making appearances on television channels.

The PCB has already issued notices to some former players who are on its payroll in different capacities for appearing on television channels without getting permission from the board.

It has also refused permission to some present and former players in the PCB payroll who were invited to talk in television shows or asked to give comments in the media.
