The successful training launch of the Ghauri or Hatf-V intermediate range ballistic missile was witnessed by Musharraf and Army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at an undisclosed location.
The launch was conducted at the conclusion of an annual field training exercise of a Strategic Missile Group of the Army Strategic Force Command (ASFC), a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations said.
The ASFC is currently engaged in its winter collective training wherein every operationalised strategic missile is tested in "tactical and live firing exercises".
The test of the Ghauri came a week after a similar training launch of the Shaheen-I ballistic missile, which has a range of 700 km.
The political turmoil in Pakistan and an upsurge in terrorist attacks have sparked reports in the western media about the safety of the country's nuclear arsenal and the effectiveness of its command and control system.
Media reports have also suggested that the US is considering contingency plans to secure Pakistan's nuclear arsenal in the event of any extremist takeover.
Musharraf said, "We have taken note of various imaginary scenarios being propounded by those who do not wish Pakistan well. Such elements have never reconciled to a nuclear Pakistan.
"Pakistan is capable of thwarting all threats to its sovereignty and to the nuclear capability," Musharraf said, advising "caution to such elements."
The armed forces are a "highly professional, motivated and well trained force and are capable of safeguarding Pakistan's security against all types of threat", he said.
During a recent visit to Europe, Musharraf said militants could gain access to Pakistan's atomic weapons only if Al Qaida or the Taliban "defeated the Pakistani army" or if radical groups won the upcoming general election.
"There is a zero percent chance of either one of them," he said.
Lt Gen Khalid Kidwai, the head of the Strategic Plans Division that controls Pakistan's nuclear arsenal, dismissed such fears during a recent briefing for the foreign media.
Kayani, who witnessed the launch of the Shaheen-I on January 25, too dismissed such concerns "as unrealistic and based on a lack of understanding of Pakistan's command and control mechanisms".
Musharraf lauded the troops for "achieving high standards of training and excellent results". Pakistan, he said, has developed a "strong nuclear deterrence capability and expects that officers and men entrusted with the task of deterring aggression would continue to train hard and maintain professional excellence".
He said he was pleased to see the ASFC "emerge as a well trained and cohesive force in a very short span of time". All needs for strategic capabilities according to Pakistan's minimum deterrence requirements will be met by the nation.
Besides the unrest witnessed in the wake of the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto last month, Pakistan has been rocked by a series of suicide attacks on the armed forces and increased militant activities in its lawless tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.

First he feels insecure because he is a mad mullha and all over the civilised worldthey are kickiking the arse of these pig headed arse holes and secondly he feels frustrated, because of his inadequacy, that his wife is having a love dovey physical relationship with the hindu milkman. This guy is a pygmy degenerate, just ignore him.Pakistan tried 4 times to take Kashmir, from India, and each time they had ass kicked back to Hindu Kush, even your pet dog China and Alquada, are having second thoughts about India.1 Billion plus are Hindus are getting ready to fight the mother of all battles, so go steady you frustrated moron and jihadi rogue.
hahahaha burning indians stink like burning tyres.
This shows this country pushing the world in to the next stage of mass Extinction on this earth. This is a best example for breeding mother of terrorist. So best way of defence is "Kill them before they kill us"
That's true.
What India should do with respect to pakistan in today's political situations of the world? India should lobby the world for an international control of paki nukes. USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, and all other major powerful nations are already in favor of controlling the "islamic bomb". Make the terrorism, political turmoil and the nuke delivery missiles as pretext and strip off pak with its most dangerous weapons, nukes. Pakistan, who wags its tail in front of world's powerful nations, even under far distant possibilities, has no capabilities to counter the world's demand and eventually it is bound to give up its nukes. Once nukes are controlled, pak will be morally devastated and will self-explode due to its internal pulling-apart forces. Even threatening to control its nukes will stop him to conduct further missiles tests. Defeating pak is possible for India alone, but it is much more costlier and complicated than defeating pak when India aligns itself with powerful nations of the world. World must tame and liberate this mentally challenged nation, called pakistan.
Naturally its borrowed stuff but the timing to test-fire is also funny.Yesterday CIA attacked some Al-Qaeda outfit in Pakistan(Wazirastan)and US claimed to have killed an important figure.Musharraf spoke against direct US involvement/action in Pakistani territories that too in whopping big words. To keep his face clean and convince people of Pakistan of his authority and promise he had to do so.Perhaps this time it was USAmerican missile! Its matter of shame and not to be proud of for Pakistani people.
i know pakistani technology and scintific development very well, as i was associated with an international programme till recently. no doubt the missiles are 'donations' from china
Its Chaina firing from Pak soldier.Sahin is nothing but make over of some Chini Dingdong Missile. Its China`s indirect response to PM`s Arunachal Visit.
