New Delhi Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram said Pakistan was threatening to become a failed state and it was not clear who was in control of the country.

"It (Pakistan) is not a failed state, but it is threatening to become one," Palaniappan Chidambaram said at a seminar in Mumbai.

"A great concern is weighing on our minds. In Pakistan, with regret, I would say we don't know who is in control there. Whether it is the army or the president or the government," Chidambaram was quoted as saying.

New Delhi has blamed Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba for the Mumbai attacks and said its nuclear-armed rival has done little to clamp down on militant activity on its soil.

Pakistani authorities were also criticised for poor security arrangements after armed men fired at the Sri Lankan cricket team as they drove to a stadium in Lahore on Tuesday.

Seven Pakistanis, six policemen and the driver of a bus carrying match officials, were killed. Six Sri Lankan players and two team officials were wounded.

India also expressed concern at the growing influence of the Taliban in Pakistan and the government's inability to control the militants.

"Revival of Talibanism is nothing but total danger to Pakistan, total danger to the entire region," Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in New Delhi on Friday.

Pakistanis are the best State and Non state actors in the world? by gary on 07 Mar 2009

Pakistanis are very smart and they know how to play the game and make money. They do not care about human lives and have two kind of actors. The state actors engage the politicians of the world and make them believe that pakistan is a victim like other contries and Non state actors are encouraged to play their game. In the end, humanity and peace are the loosers.

Pak. threaTENING TO BECOME FAILED STATE by Karunakaran Yendapally on 07 Mar 2009

The sooner it happens the better it is.This failed state must be over run by Taliban and make it Talibanistan,so that India will be free to attack and destroy this nation founded on "Hate India "policy. It will also solve the Kashmir problem once and for all.

INDIA by DA on 07 Mar 2009

Why does India have to worry so much about pakistan. Seal all our borders. Shoot the intruders. Pakistan is a American created problem. America can finish this job by tightenning the supply of Saudi / UAE and other Gulf nations who help this state. But they choose not to, American do not seem to learn a lesson 9/11 happened to them inspite of they being a very strong country. Today Americans do understand that if they do not stop this menance, these paki extremists will deliver a nuke to USA via their passenger plane (it will be PFA - Pakistan Fidayeen Airline ). India should openly threaten their existance in case if any adventure by them against our country. Why we have to run to America time and again.. India will have to fight our own war. Americans will never help India, their country gains from such nonsense.

Instead of being concerned about Pakistan, will PC make efforts to settle the Indian Security system in order.PC should well be aware, that out of 565MP's 519 of them have a criminal record. There is no RULE OF LAW IN INDIA.Policeforce is used to guard the lives of VIP Politicians less for maintenance of law and order.Sucessive Home Minister including Sardar Advani could not implement the DharmVira report of Police Reforms. Can PC do it.If not at least let him SHUTUP.

pak's plight by richard on 07 Mar 2009

It is time for India to save democracy in Pakistan. Its youth are more interested in dying for their religion instead of living for the development of their country. Religion is good if we want sheepish people who will believe whatever their priests say. They will definitely not interested in developing a democracy which gives a voice to its people and a future to its youngsters. India has to convince these misguided youth that in the development of their state lies future. If anarchy returns in the name of our religion, the nations will end up in bloodshed.

Nuclear War by kishore on 07 Mar 2009

India should ensure that pakistan does not become a terrorist state as if the terrorist get hand on Pakistans nuclear weapons they will not hesitate to use against us.Best thing will be to invade pakistan now and take over the country so we will not be attacked by nuclear weapons in fututre.

Paksitan - a failed state by Sarwar Husain on 07 Mar 2009

Pakistan - failed stateWe know this is the inly desire of India, but, it will never be fulfilled. India should come up with big brother attitude and short sightedness will not reap anything. Pakistan is suffering from the hegemoney of super powers in Afghanistan and India is trying all it could to wash its dirty linen but in contrast it is polluting its own revered Ganga.

Paksitan - a failed state by Suresh Rao on 08 Mar 2009

There is no big brother attitude That is the problem Big powers have used and abused Pakistan - both China and US have used Pakistan as a thorn in India's side and now Pakistan is reaping its consequences. When you could not manage existing territories properly , why hanker for Indian territory and keep Indo Pak relations on the boil ?. Your masters will now leave you in the lurch. So much so for your "All weather friends"

Look after what you have first by Damien on 07 Mar 2009

As an Indian older brother my advice to you Sarwarbhai is to concentrate on education and economic development. Stop the hate mongering in schools which teach from textbooks that falsify history. Stop sending your children to madrasas where militant mullahs spread hatred towards the ‘Kaffirs’. Stop dreaming about ‘liberating’ Kashmir. It is not gonna happen – learn to look after what you already possess. Stop the paranoia that India wants to break up Pakistan – it is not in India’s interest to have a talibanised or balkanised Pakistan. If however Pakistan does break up, do not expect me to shed a tear. India is capable of looking after its own security regardless.

Big brother attitude by abhijit on 07 Mar 2009

Yau u r right, India should come up with big brother attitude so that Pakis can stab us from behind, the way they have been doing for past 5 dacades. Pakistan is not suffering due to any external force but because of its own failures and jelousy driven behaviour. It will not be a failed state as it will cease to exist due to its blind religious practices and hatred for others. Jai ho Taliban ki!!!

No, last five years are a failed term by JP on 07 Mar 2009

Pakistan was failed state or not failed state, who cares? But your job performance and your party's last five years are certainly 8% FDP growth failed term. Thank you for failing Indians and no action on justice for mumbai victims and congratulations on blasts after blasts, that your ministry tried to blame hindu terrorists on.

Finally we nikkerwallahs are up and ready to go! by Joybhaaret on 07 Mar 2009

I think the time has arrived that we nikkerwallahs are ready to go to Pakistan and fight the Talibans. We are so patriotic that none of us will stay in India. Dear countrymen, please take care of our wives when we are fighting the talibans in Pakistan. So long! There will not be any nikkerwallahs any more in India including LK Advani who will rule the country he was born in, after we take over the pajistan. Jay Bharat

Fighting Taliban by RSS by subash on 08 Mar 2009

This is a good idea for Nikkerwallahs to go against Taliban. But unfortunately the fact remain Nikkerwalas are Indian version of Taliban but never a match to daring Taliban. Maximum Nikkervalas can demolish some old buildings or kill defenseless people when a Modi or Appa gives green signal

Finally we nikkerwallahs are up and ready to go! by sorrowbhaaret on 08 Mar 2009

Once the nikkerwallahs go then India will become the land of the pink chaddi wallahs and will go to pubs for smoking and drinking and doing drugs. then Sonia Gandhi can gor to her land of birth Jai Shree Rome ! ! !
