New York, July 19: Pakistan's ‘non-governance’ due to differences between ruling PPP and its key coalition partner PML-N was increasing the influence of the Taliban which could end ‘honeymoon’ of peace in Jammu and Kashmir, former US envoy to the India, Frank G Wisner, has warned.

Although the Kashmir issue had never been resolved, the ‘honeymoon’ was continuing for several years, he said.

However, now differences between Pakistan's ruling PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif has led to ‘non governance’ of Pakistan which is increasing influence of Taliban and that could create problem in Jammu and Kashmir, he said.

Sharif's party mainly differs with PPP on the issue of reinstatement of judges sacked by President Pervez Musharraf during the Emergency rule in 2007. It pulled its nine ministers from the PPP-led Cabinet in May after failing to meet two-self-imposed deadlines to restore the sacked judges.

Added to the ‘non-governance’ of Pakistan is the uncertain political situation in Jammu and Kashmir itself following resignation Chief Minster Ghulam Nabi Azad, Wisner told the Golden Jubilee Conference of the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, being attended by about 800 alumni now working or owning about 325 organisations.
