Karachi Uncertainty looms large over Pakistan's tour to Bangladesh after the PCB informed that Bangladesh Cricket Board had sought a week's time to obtain clearance from their government and confirm the revised itinerary.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ejaz Butt said that his Bangladesh counterpart had asked him to wait for a week to get a clear picture on the tour.

"Yesterday only I talked with a top official of the Bangladesh board and he had requested for a week's time to get a final clearance from their government," Butt said.

The tour was postponed last week, just two days after 12 gunmen attacked the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore. Pakistan was due to leave for Bangladesh on March 7 to play five one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches. But the BCB had postponed the tour on the eleventh hour on the advice of their government in the aftermath of a two-day mutiny, in which at least 80 people were killed, mostly army officers.

However, the PCB Chairman said Pakistan would have no issues if the Bangladesh board decides to revise the tour itinerary to three ODIs and a Twenty20 match.

"We understand their position but we are seeking further clarifications on the exact status of the tour from them," Butt said.

He added that the BCB had informed him that it would send a revised itinerary by next Tuesday after getting clearance from its government.

Butt also informed that the tour would now be restricted to Dhaka. "It was on the government behest that the series has been postponed and it would be with the approval of the government that the series would be rescheduled," a PCB source said.

He said unless the tour starts by March 27, it would become impossible to stage it later as Bangladesh cricketers were due to play in the second season of the Indian Premier League starting April 10.
