Now, to focus on Kalam’s suggested mission, PanIIT will launch an ‘Entrepreneurship Movement’ on Republic Day. The PanIIT organisation was formed as an umbrella body including the alumni of all seven IITs to evolve a brand that would provide a strong fraternity to IIT alumni.
“The interaction will begin on Saturday and we hope that it will not be the end. We want to support the spirit of entrepreneurship since many projects don’t succeed simply because guidance wasn’t available,” said Milind Gokhale, board member of the IIT Bombay Alumni Association.
Subsequently, the project will be initiated simultaneously in 16 different cities across India to mentor 1,000 entrepreneurs. Each mentor will volunteer four-and-a-half hours of his time on Saturday. “We are targeting 1,000, but there is no restriction to the number of people who wish to be benefited through this mission,” added Gokhale.
The cities to be covered include Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai , Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Patna and Pune, with Kalam attending the session in Hyderabad.
