Prof Ashok Sahni, eminent geologist and Prof Emeritus, PU, attended the discussions. He said that one’s degree of success must be judged by the quality of work rather than massive pay scales.
Paramjit Sahai, an ex- IFS officer spoke about the need for a research mindset among the students. He asked students to use information available for research from all available sources.
Dr Sukhjeet Singh, senior vice president, Panacea Biotech Ltd said that research must be conducted for the good of society.
Dr A Pani, Department Director AIU highlighted the role of the intelligentia in creative work. Prof S K Kulkarni, Dean, University Instruction, PU, equated research with creativity. A good researcher must possess a sincere approach, commitment, dedication and intelligence. An interactive session was also held.
Prof R C Sobti, Panjab University V-C called for a Brahminical approach to research. He asked students to focus on commitment rather than materialistic issues in the pursuit of knowledge.
Among the 25 North Zone participants, Neeraj Sharma, MDU, Rohtak, Neetika Nath, PU and Rachel Philip, DU were adjudged best presenters in the Basic Sciences, Health Sciences and Social Sciences category respectively.
