Chandigarh, February 5 The committee formed by the UT Education Department to investigate the sexual harassment case at GMSSS, Sector 22, has not found substantial proof against the accused teacher. Highly placed sources in the department said, “The officials who conducted the inquiry are ‘confused’. They are unable to decide whether the girls are lying or the teacher is at fault.” However, the department has decided to transfer the accused teacher Gyandeep, a Punjabi teacher at GMSSS-22.

The DPI(S), S K Setia, had constituted a committee headed by District Education Officer (DEO), Kushwinder Sharma to investigate complaints by Class XI students from GMSSS-22 against their Punjabi teacher, Gyandeep. The student’s accused Gyandeep of sexual harassment. Gyandeep was issued a warning on January 24. He refused to take classes for XI students. He claimed that his engagement was called off and he was under stress due to the incident.

The DPI (S), SK Setia said, “The allegations were not proved. However, taking note of the complaint we have decided to transfer the teacher to another school.”
