Mehra was speaking at the 102nd birth anniversary celebrations of Padma Vibhushan Late Shri Dharma Vira at the hospital. Vira was a former cabinet secretary of the Government of India.
Stressing on public-private partnership in healthcare, she said: “Today, governments should govern and not run. Parking is a big problem in Delhi. We recently opened a parking lot for 900 vehicles in Kamla Nagar. We will open 24 more lots on build, operate and transfer basis.”
She requested the hospital authorities to help the civic body in testing and treating MCD schoolchildren for anaemia.
Dr B K Rao, chairman, board of management of the hospital, said, “SGRH is planning to expand and provide healthcare facilities to more patients and develop infrastructure to support academics and research.”
Mehra gave away awards to hospital staff and released a hospital newsletter.
