"It is the duty of Chief Ministers to ensure that they work in tandem with party organisation and not as dictators who disregard party workers," the editorial in the latest issue of 'Congress Sandesh' has said.
It is almost on the same lines as the message from Congress President Sonia Gandhi to party workers in the journal.
"In the states where we are in power, the party Chief Ministers must work in tandem with the party presidents," she said, asking partymen to prepare for the challenges ahead.
Her comments came in the backdrop of setbacks in several party-ruled states last year and in view of the upcoming assembly polls in ten states this year, followed by the Lok Sabha elections next year.
The Congress has hit a dry patch in 2007, losing almost all elections, including in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, and failing to retain power in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The only consolation was the wins in Goa and Manipur.
The editorial recalled Gandhi's recent statement at the AICC Session that she and her son Rahul Gandhi do not have a magic wand.
In this backdrop, "it is the responsibility of other party leaders to ensure that the party programmes and policies are disseminated amongst the people."
