Gurgaon, January 27 Villagers residing near the Expressway have warned they would block the busy intersection near the Hero Honda factory on February 15 if their demands for an underpass or overbridge on the highway were not met.

Over 1,500 villagers from 25 villages met at Khandsa Gaon on NH-8 near Hero Honda Chowk on Saturday to discuss the lack of access to the villagers. Dhola Nabber Dar, a farmer from Khandsa, said, “The village cremation ground is on the other side of the highway. Now, the meshes block our access.” The villagers said an underpass or an overbridge had been promised to them.

The Panchayat was called by seven villages—Begumpur Khatola, Khandsa Gaon, Narsingpur, Kherki, Naharpur, Hasanpur Darbaripur and Jharsa—located along the Expressway.

Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Gupta said a proposal for an underpass is in the pipeline. “Once the proposal is approved, the villages will have a double loop underpass,” said Gupta.
