Mumbai Supporters of Ramvilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) on Thursday allegedly manhandled staff of a private air-carrier at Patna airport after the Union Minister missed a flight.

"A group of LJP supporters stormed the airport and started abusing and manhandling the staff for allowing the Patna-Ranchi-Delhi flight to take off without the minister on

board," a Patna airport official claimed.

Paswan had booked a ticket in Kingfisher Airlines' Patna-Ranchi-Delhi (IT-3335) flight, scheduled to leave Patna airport at 1740 hrs, the official said, adding, ‘the Minister, however, reached the airport at 1755 hrs.’

"We waited for Paswan till 1750 hrs, and when he did not report, the flight was allowed to take off," he said.

"Shortly after Paswan arrived at the airport, his party workers, who were accompanying him, indulged in a ruckus as they heard that the flight had left," the official said.

However, LJP MLA and spokesperson Sanjay Singh said that the airlines had rescheduled the flight timings without informing the passengers.

First of all, treating the ministers and VIPs differently from the common man is a disgust one. Already the private airline authorities delayed the flight for 10 minutes from its scheuled time and how the minister and his goondas can expect that it should wait for him furthermore. Secondly, this is the practice being adopted by the govt machineries and accustomed to these practice they are expecting the same from private firms also. What the Air Port security done while these goondas manhandled the private airline authorities and what the minister done himself. Everybody should be dealt with sternly.

Gundaism at airports by Niranjan on 09 Jan 2009

These gundas should not be allowed to do what they like, to whom they like without any repercussions or consequences. Why are these politicians allowed to have their way at any airport? It is getting more frequent lately. Is there no law in this country to curb such behaviour? Is there no authority to tackle shuch gundaism? Suspend their privileges for sometime and they will get the idea.
