Mumbai, March 9 Rohit Sharma's return to local cricket was not as successful as his recent stint in Australia and he could only manage 16 runs for his team Indian Oil against D Y Patil Group in the Rs 10 lakh prize money 4th Dr. D Y Patil All-India Invitational Twenty20 cricket tournament at the Dr. D Y Patil International cricket stadium on Sunday. However, his former international twenty20 teammate Yousuf Pathan was in merciless form and hammered 112 runs from 45 balls to guide hosts D Y Patil to an easy 92-run victory over Mumbai Police.

Batting first against Mumbai Police, Pathan slammed 13 boundaries and seven sixes in his whirlwind knock, his 50 coming in just 17 balls and his century from 37. Yogesh Takwale partnered Pathan with an unbeaten 54 and the duo put on the team's first 100 in just 6.5 overs before totaling 246 for 4 from 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai Police were restricted to 154 for 8 from their 20 overs, Pathan grabbing three wickets, while Aditya Bole scalped two.

In the other league match, Indian Oil hit 165 for 9 in 20 overs against D Y Patil Group, A Rahane hitting 54 from 37 balls and Mithun Birala scoring 41 off 21 deliveries. However, they managed to defend their relatively low score by restricting D Y Patil Group to 128 for 9 from 20 overs. Rohit Sharma bowled four overs and grabbed a wicket, giving away 31 runs.

Also scoring convincing victories were Canara Bank and Air India, over Maharashtra Cricket Association and Tata Sports Club respectively.
