A number of social clubs and organisations comprising Rotary Club Mid Town, Patiala City Social Welfare Society, Rotary Club Patiala, Lions Club Patiala, Aarhti Association, Balmik Dharam Sabha Baradari, Veterinary Club and senior citizens met at Rajindra Gymkhana Club and objected to the “unauthorised” acts of the hotel management.

They contended that the main road passing through the Baradari Gardens was lifeline for many Patiala residents and sought the government intervention to reopen the road. The closure of the road has been creating problems for commuters in the town, as the area has become accident-prone due to heavy traffic being diverted to a small road.

Some of the agitated residents also sought details of the hotel deal made by the previous Congress government and called for its cancellation.

Prominent among those who participated in today’s meeting included Rotary Club president Parminderpal Kaur, Patiala City Social Welfare Society president KK Malhotra, Garden and Environment Society president Vijay Goel, former Improvement Trust chairman KK Sharma and Harbans Bansal representing the Aarhti Association.

The Neemrana Group has meanwhile, started constructing a concrete wall around the Rajindra Kothi, allegedly occupying a part of the Baradari Gardens where residents go for their morning and evening walks. Earlier, the road was reopened after an intervention by the top government functionaries.
