Addressing a rally in Jabalpur which was scheduled to be the launch of his ‘Sankalp Yatra’, he sought to know from the Prime Minister whether Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru has been given ‘unofficial clemency’ and the number of terrorist modules busted by his government in the last three-and-a-half years.
In his first public meeting after securing a stamp of approval by the NDA as its prime ministerial candidate, Advani attacked the Congress saying the unresolved boundary issues with Pakistan and China are the legacy of successive Congress governments and blamed it for virtually all the problems faced by the country.
Advani posed four questions to Manmohan Singh – whether Afzal Guru has been given unofficial clemency, disclose the progress of investigation in terror attacks since 2004, number of terror modules busted and militants arrested or killed and steps taken to check Bangladeshi infiltration in Assam.
Referring to postponement of his rallies, he said government has sought some time to provide enough security and the party has decided to reschedule the programme and not cancel.
"The rallies will continue and I want to tell the terrorists that no political party in India is afraid of them," he said.
"I can say right now that the Prime Minister will answer none of these questionss because he does not have the courage to tell the truth to the nation," Advani said addressing the rally at the Garrison Ground in this cantonment town.
The truth, Advani said was that ‘Congress party's inaction is dictated by its short-term vote bank considerations, because of which it is imperilling the country's unity, integrity and security in the long term’.
Continuing to target Singh, the Leader of the Opposition said, "India today is in need of strong leadership that can tackle the threat of Jehadi terrorism’ and ‘resolve the big legacy problem that India has inherited from the past bungling by Congress governments’.
Claiming that ‘people of India are looking for a change at the Centre, Advan said they are, however, not looking only for a change in government but looking for a change in politics. They want a new kind of politics’.
In his hour-long speech, Advani accused of Congress of being responsible for India having lost territories during wars with Pakistan and China and charged it with going soft against terrorism.
"Successive Congress governments including the Congress-led UPA one, have reduced India to a soft state, one that lacks the political will at the top to confront the enemy and neutralise him," he said.
"Today, India has been saddled with unresolved boundary problems with two of our big neighbours--Pakistan and China. Both problems were created due to bungling of Congress governments", Advani said.
He said BJP was committed to good governance, development and security and pledged to provide an alternative culture of governance rooted in these ideals.
Advani charged the government with failing to tackle price rise and corruption saying its policies have made life difficult for the people of the country.
Claiming that the previous NDA government had launched several ambitious ideas and programmes for India's development, he said, "because of the non-performance of the UPA government in the past nearly four years, many more tasks have been added to the challenges before us."
He said India wants a strong leadership which can end the plight of farmers, fight corruption at the top level, accelerate employment-oriented economic growth, bring down prices and end ‘betrayal’ of the common men.
Advani said elections to the Lok Sabha can be held before time, even along with assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhatisgarh later this year, and asked partymen to be prepared for the challenge.
In a clear message to party leaders, he asked them to be humble, accessible to people and maintain a clean image.
"Our leaders should not be dishonest and should be accessible to people as they are supreme," he said.

Of course people want change but unfortunately all that glitters is not gold. We have a very honest PM who is totally run by remote control and that remote control who believes in emergency than in democracy. Beware, UPA in connivance can go to any extent to subvert the constitution to suit their whims and fancies. When a govt thinks about amending constitution to keep an EC of their choice and not only stops here wants to legalize anything illegal then one can imagine where our democracy is heading to. Not Common People but Politicians matters in India.
Now, the Islamic terrorists have reached the stage where they can call the shots! Down with India and BJP.. Congress/IslamTerrorism/Pakistan zindabad!
Indeed,we are looking for a change therefore please go and get lost....
What God Krishna said when Lord Arjuna refused to fight in Kurushetra: if you win, you will enjoy the pleasure of the earth; if you are defeated and killed, you will get "veergati" and enjoy the pleasure of the heaven. Don't give up like a coward. If you give up, you will bombarded with abuses and finger-pointings. So, do your duty, concentrate on your duty, without thinking of profit or loss, and your duty is Yagna. A Mahamritunjay Yagna, where all snakes, all big and small cobras will be pulled in and will be burnt into ashes in the flames of the fire of Yagna. If you give up, the nation will be dominated by evil and the day coming will be even more horrific. So, hey Arjuna, hey Krishna, hey Bharata, hey Gandeevdhari, ride your chariot, hold your Gandeev, command your mind, aim at Duryodhna and kill him. And then the Paanchjanya thunders.
BJP only speaks about terrorism so what they say for gujarat riots who is responsible for that BJP or modi. so presently let them not to worry about india as the world knows now we are the best in all aspects... so BJP
This message is for people who keep questioning BJP on 'Ram Mandir'. I want to tell them it is the congress and communists ploy to keep BJP in the constraints of Mandir etc. Look at the Vajpayee Era what problem do you see, his era will always be known as no votebank, apeasement and development for all agenda government. The projects they started were blocked by UPA govt. This is the most useless govt. India has ever seen
Mr. Rajeev Kumar u are biased, your arguments are not appropriates, people know the fact behind the Kandhar compulsions, for Kargil as well which was the outcome of weak policies and inefficient coalition governments, just before the BJP rule, you know if one is weak at present future will not be shining and stronger for them, for example the wrong policies of Bush administration made the job extremely difficult for next coming president. Same thing in India too, if current government is soft to deal for terrorism, Maoist problem, Farmers problem, growing regionalism, pseudo secularism, lack of direction, lack of transparency, soft to deal corruptions, think carefully where country will go with this vision, no question about Manmohan Singh is honest persion but he is not a strong leader, which India needs at present, secondly he never got elected by people of India though Loksabha, not even Shivaji Rao Patil the current home minister he is from Rajya Sabha, Rajya Sabha is a chore darwaja, people of India elect their leader through Loksabha or Vidhan Sabha
With the available zeal and gusto and lack of family preoccupations unlike the Congress, the BJP is in an ideal position to sweep Indian Politics for decades, provided: it takes stock of where it stands in its ideals and philosophy, and it should realize that both of these are false. It should search its own truth, and find out that carrying all shades of opinion and faith, it can beat Congress by lengths, since it is free from the accretion of obsolete leadership and spirit. It must seize all citizens in its embrace and promise equanimity and equality.
BJP's big ambition to construct Ram mandir at Ayodhya was not fulfilled during the BJP's regime and we all know that it was same Advani was taken Rath Yatra for the Rammandir in the country. Neither Advani nor Vajpayee utter a word about Ram mandir during the whole 6 years.
Mr.Advani, people memory is not short, you have habit of taking people for granted, fact is the number of terrorist attacks in terms of number and magnitude were much larger when you were home minister, you did nothing except usual verbal jugglery.
Don't forget the East Asian politics of 2004 is different from 2008. In 2008 in our neighbourhood 'terrorist' busy with Iraq and Afgan war projects!Still under the present govt India lacks guts to check these terrorist nuisance for ever. Too much security threats. Just compare US never had any terrorist threat after 9/11 . Why ?This will tell us Mr Advani is talking something serious.
Even in BJP fanatic fools and anti-national elements would like to see change of governance from Manmohan Singh to Advni.
Yes! there were internal security problems during NDA regime but were addressed immediately. Now the all problems do not have any solution.
buddhe ki ek taang kabr mein hai fir bhi uchalne ka maan karta hai. its time for another life baba , u done enough crimes by supporting the criminal modi .
Yes, your right, People of India are indeed looking for a change. Let's start with you.
The entire `Indian Republic´ is under attack from all directions from within and from the neighbourhood and from afar. It is a well known fact that the boarder areas of the defenceless areas of the country all along the along the national boundary have become safe haven. The world is facing violence from all types of outfits who are being used as agents to wage proxy wars. India is facing a similar situation which needs to be crushed by taking drastic actions along the border areas adjoining the neighbouring countries including the maritime areas. The softly, softly approach to terrorism is very dangerous to the country’s security. The Maoists have taken over Nepal and what will be the next step of the Maoists? India’s defence establishment need to address this to provide permanent security to the people of the country. The SAAC is being used as a tool by Pakistan and other nations like Pakistan in the region for subversive activities against India.
Indeed they are looking for a chang, but not a change for a party who rose from a 2 member MP party to be the size of today by mixing religion with politics. Seperate the religion and be an opposition may be the acceptance will be by a wide audience. The state should not have any color of any religion.jai hind
