The five injured have been identified as Shahbuddin Ansari (20), Santosh Shinde (32), Nilesh Patil (28), Paresh Mhatre (27) and Liak Nasimullah (28). Ansari, who was carrying the cylinder, has been admitted to the Sion Hospital and is reported to be serious.
The others, who suffered minor injuries, were discharged from Sion Hospital after medication.
Shinde, who works as a security guard, is a resident of Kurla. He was travelling from Kurla to Byculla. When he heard the sound of the blast, he too jumped off the train.
“I was standing near the door. People just started screaming. I did not think anything and just jumped off the train.”
Patil, another injured, said, “I saw people jumping and I so I too jumped. I could feel the thick smoke all around me. As we are still not out of the horrors of the serials blasts, the first thing that came to my mind was that it’s a bomb blast.”
Ahmed, who suffered more injuries as he was sitting closer to Ansari, said, “I was at the door and I jumped when I saw others doing the same.” Nasimullah, a resident of Pen, suffered minor injuries but did not jump off the train.
