Chandigarh, March 2 City residents have yet to find out about the recommendations of the councillors who went to Bangkok and Singapore to take lessons in city development.

Now, another group of municipal councillors is ready to leave for Singapore, Bangkok and Malaysia.

Like the first group, these councillors, too, will study night foodstreet, parkings, roads and public health.

Many of the councillors, who are going to be a part of this group, don’t have a clue as to what they are supposed to study during their week-long tour. Many of them said they will have to enquire about it from the Mayor or officials concerned.

Meanwhile, the councillors, who have already paid a visit to Singapore and Bangkok, said they have made certain recommendations for development.

When asked to detail their suggestions, they referred this reporter to Municipal Secretary P K Sharma, who was entrusted with preparing the report.

Sharma was one of the officials accompanying the councillors during the study tour.

Sharma said he, too, is not aware of the recommendations made by the councillors for the development of the city.

“I submitted the report to the Mayor two days ago. Once he approves it, it will be tabled in the House,” he said.

Former mayor Harjinder Kaur said before leaving for the next trip, the study report of the first group should have been tabled in the House.

Kaur had been instrumental in initiated the process of sending councillors on study tours during her tenure as Mayor.
