Celebrating the spirit of democracy amongst the youth Lokayat, along with other activist groups and NGOs of Pune, have come up with a society called Lokashihi Utsav Samiti. This society is organising a five-day democracy festival in Pune from January 26 to 30, that will hold five cultural programmes organised on January 26, 28 and 30, where accomplished artistes like Mallika Sarabhai and Jaysi and Pranabh Mukherjee will perform. January 26 will see the musical satire play by Jaysi and Pranabh Mukherjee Girija ke sapne and a gazal programme by Ustad Sajjad Hussain Khan. On January 28, Jaysi is scheduled to perform a play Lamps of Lilypads while The dead tree gives no shelter directed by Mukherjee will also be staged on the same day. On January 30, danseuse Mallika Sarabhai will perform a composition, Sva Kranti.
