Picnic due on Oct 10

Director Girish Mohite’s next release titled Picnic is based on the lives of the youth of today and is about four dear friends. Produced by Hrishikesh More who has also penned the story, screenplay and dialogue, the main attraction is the only song in the film. Penned by young lyricist Aditya Thackeray, it has been set to tune by Anand Menon in the voices of Hansika Iyer, Sameer Vijaykumar, Rajeev Sundaram and Anand Menon. Cinematography is by Santosh Shinde and art direction is by Santosh Phutane. The film starring Santosh Juvekar, Sushant Shelar, Rahul Mehendale and Sai Tamhankar is due for release on October 10. It is made under the banner of Silver Autumn Productions.

Meeting of ABMCM held
On September 29, 2008, a meeting of the Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal (ABMCM) was held to discuss various issues concerning the film industry. Presided over by Ajay Sarpotdar, other members who attended the meeting were Smita Talwalkar, Satish Randive, Subal Sarkar, Subhash Bhurke, Sanjeev Nayak, Dattaprasad Asthekar besides 150 associates from Mumbai, Kolhapur, Pune and Satara.
Some of the issues that were discussed were the Maharashtra Government’s involvement in the screening of Marathi films in theatres; the increase in the subsidiary amount to about 10 crores; films based on social or rural subjects too should be included in the awards category; the 3rd floor mini theatre and big theatre on the ground floor of P.L.Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy be allowed for screening of films besides letting it for premiere as well as press shows of new films.
The committee, named to handle special problems and concerns of the film industry, comprises Ajay Sarpotdar, Ramdas Phutane, M.S. Salvi, Vijay Patkar, Neena Kulkarni, Alka Athalye, Ramesh Salgoankar, Madan Gonari, Hemant Sakharkar, Suresh Keni, Kanchan Adhikari, Jayesh Peera, Shashikant Guran, Vivek Kudle, Deepak Neelanar, Bhaskar Jadhav, Ranindra Panhalkar, Deepak Deshmukh, Dinesh Deshpande and Veena Lokur.
