Pune The Students’ Welfare Department of the University of Pune (UoP) will organise a workshop where Air Force officers will interact with students and conduct an exam to select students for various jobs in the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Final year students of different science faculties will be eligible to attend the workshop to be held on February 11 and later sit for the exam under Short Service Commission.

Calling it a fast-track selection for students at the university, Deepak Mane, director, Student’s Welfare Department said, “This is for the second year that we are providing a platform to the students to help them get recruited by the Air Force directly. Last year, the workshop received a good response from students. About 200 students participated and 50 were shortlisted for the final interview. Finally, 13 students were selected who are now undergoing training in Mysore.”

Air Force officers from Delhi, Bangalore and Mysore will participate in the interactive session. “The officers will brief the students about feasible positions. A written exam will be held on February 12. The officers will be available on campus on both the days and students can ask them questions,” added Mane.

All colleges have been asked to submit a list of the number of students interested in the workshop. “This kind of fast-track recruitment sessions are effective and have been attracting a lot of students,” he said.

Apart from the IAF, which will only recruit students from the science faculties, companies such as Wipro and TCS will visit the UoP and look to recruit students from all faculties, he added.
