He is 13 films old and unquestionably handsome, but box-office success has completely eluded him. Recently Dino Morea was spotted in disasters like Holiday and Tom, Dick and Harry among others. The actor agrees that he needs to re-kickstart his fledging career. “From May this year I’m going to start on a fresh slate,” says Morea, who is currently donning a new look with long, wavy locks.

While two of his films — Bhram and Anamika — are due for release in March and May, he is also looking forward to an action flick. He states, “Both these films are romantic dramas. While Bhram is opposite a newcomer Sheetal Menon, Anamika has Koena Mitra and Minissha Lamba.”

After a long list of multi-starrers, including a guest appearance in Om Shanti Om’s star-studded title song, the two films will have him as the male lead. “I have done mostly multi-starrers and want to continue doing films that feature several actors because the audience is hard to understand these days. Some of the worst films that I’ve seen have been blockbusters. So I’m guessing the audience likes to see more than one actor on screen — its value for money, after all,” says Morea. He adds, “I want to do more action movies and am getting selective about work. Sometimes scripts sound great, but eventually the movie turns out to be nothing like the narration... I have been in the industry for five years now, so it’s about time I change my image.”

Besides acting, Morea is also excited about his production house Clockwork Films. His company recently did a paints commercial featuring Kareena Kapoor. “We are doing a lot of ads. It’s an experience in itself and I want to continue with it,” he says.

And with actors turning directors, Morea too is looking at venturing into production by the end of this year. Meanwhile, there’s been gossip floating in Bollywood about his fling with Lara Dutta. “It’s completely untrue, we’re just friends,” he insists.

The very versatile Morea also has Italian café Crepe Station in Mumbai to consider, though it’s being handled by his brother Santino. “In the next five years we hope to have 50 stations,” he says. Just as well, he’s got several alternate careers chalked out.
