Ludhiana, January 16 DIG Ludhiana range Ishwar Singh flagged off 15 new motorcycles, which will be part of the local Police Control Room (PCR) fleet here today.

The new fleet includes 10 Bajaj Pulsars, which have been donated to the local police. In addition, five new Bullet motorcycles have been purchased by the police department. Addressing the gathering, the DIG said, “These motorcycles are very effective for curbing crime in congested city areas. But for the outer areas of the city, we have requested the Home Department to provide us at least 25 Gypsy jeeps.”

The city already has 100 PCR motorcycles, out of which six are on supervisory duty. With the new addition motorcycles, the total goes up to to 115.

The DIG further added, “In internal parts of the city, our PCR teams have done good job and have busted many gangs. But in the outer parts, we need four wheelers,” remarked the DIG.

Commenting on the increasing number of hoax calls which lead to panic in the city, the DIG said, “We are trying to trace these hoax calls, and strict action will be taken against the culprits.”
