New Delhi Making a breakthrough in the battered baby Falak case, Delhi Police has arrested the prime suspect who allegedly handed over the child to his 14-year-old girlfriend here.

Taxi driver Raj Kumar was arrested early Saturday morning here after weeks of manhunt. Delhi Police have been on the look out for Kumar since January 18 when the minor girl got the baby admitted to AIIMS.

Prathima, who is allegedly involved in a prostitution racket, was also arrested along with Kumar, police said.

Since then, Delhi Police have arrested several persons in connection with the case, but has not been able to apprehend the main suspect.

The battered baby case turned murkier early this week with police claiming that her mother was tricked into a second marriage allegedly by a woman, who handed over her three children to others.

Two women were arrested following investigations into the case on Sunday last for their alleged role in tricking the 22-year-old mother of Falak.

The case, which came to light in January last week, had its twists and turns and police arresting four persons in a related but separate case. The teenager's father was charged with abandoning her while a couple and another woman were arrested for forcing her into prostitution.
