Panchkula, January 7 The Panchkula police department is all set to shift its Chandimandir Police Station to a new building, which has been built near Nada Sahib Gurudwara.

Apart from having improved barracks, separate computer room and a public complaint window, the new building boasts of having a modern interrogation cell that is fitted with one-way mirror for maintaining transparency during investigation.

“This would probably be the most modern police station at Panchkula,” said ASP Maneesh Chaudhary, adding that the present building, which houses the police station is 100 years old, due to which it fails to cater to the various basic requirements.

“It was for this that the new building was got constructed by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA),” he added.

He said that the other two police stations in Sector-5 and Sector-20 of the city are also well equipped, but this one would be better than all.

The new location of the police station will also help in further improving the surveillance of the area as it is closer to the populated area, unlike the present one, he added.

The change in the address of the Chandimandir Police Station brings good news for the local residents, as earlier they had to go to a secluded area on the National Highway to reach the police station.

One of the police officials, on condition of anonymity, said that there are plans to use the present building of the police station as a traffic police post.

“The present building is very old and also small. Besides, it is on the national highway, which makes it an appropriate location for making into a traffic police post, “ the police official added.
