Nassau After the unexpected death of his 16-year-old son Jett, John Travolta is now facing an extortion attempt, according to the Bahamian newspaper 'The Tribune'.

The details of the extortion plot have not been released but a report in the newspaper stated that police have started investigating and held two people for questioning.

Travolta's lawyers had earlier confirmed the extortion attempt and also revealed that it was made related to the sudden death of the actor's son, reported a newspaper.

In a statement the attorneys of the actor revealed, "Regrettably, in a time of such terrible grief, there are often a few individuals who attempt to make false claims in hopes of making millions of dollars. We will never let that happen."

Jett had died after suffering a seizure at the family retreat in the Bahamas on 2 January this month.
