Amritsar, January 22 Finally waking up to the complaints of irregularities in the functioning of District Transport Office (DTO), the police today conducted raids and arrested nine persons, including a woman, for making fake RCs of vehicles and giving real receipt of DTO’s office. The district police have recovered the RCs and their renewal slips.

The arrested include Baldev Singh of Azad Nagar, Jagdish Ram of Bhiwani Nagar, Varinder Kumar of Kirpal Colony, Sunita of Rani Ka Bagh, Rajwinder Singh of Court Road, Kashmir Singh of Ajnala, Kuljit Singh of Goal Bagh, Mukesh Kumar of Toba Bhai Shallo and Vivek Kumar.

SSP Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh said the police had received complaints that the accused were giving real receipts of DTO’s office with fake signatures. He said the accused have been booked under sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC at Civil Lines police station. “Further investigation is on,” he added.

Meanwhile, DTO Vimal Setia said law would take its own course and the raid was conducted on private agents, who were only authorised to sell forms, but were slyly making licences.
