Gurgaon, March 13 In a first of its kind private-public partnership initiative, Business Process Industry Association of India (BPIAI), an affiliated association of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will help build the skills of Station House Officers in the Gurgaon police department.

Recently, BPIAI held a day long “Effective Time Management” workshop with the police personnel. This workshop was first of the series on the theme of “Personal Effectiveness” and 26 officers of the rank of SHOs and Additional SHO’s of Gurgaon participated.

Alok Narain, Vice-President of Employee Development Group at Quatrro who conducted this workshop, said, “The idea was to have a training session which understood how an SHO’s day goes. To understand this, we went to various police stations and spoke to the SHOs about their work demands. Based on their inputs we designed a module specially to cater to their needs.” He added that to check the impact of the training, “we will have a follow up session later this year.”

Gurgaon Police Commissioner Mohinder Lal said “this was an innovative effort of the private sector towards working closely with the law and enforcement machinery, thereby ensuring improved traffic management in Gurgaon”.

Raman Roy, Chairman and Managing Director, Quatrro, said, “By being partners is the only way we can bring about a change for the better. The idea of a partnership with Gurgaon police is our way to get involved with the local administration and to do our bit that could bring about some improvement.”

According to ACP (east) Sumit Kuhar, the outcome should be positive and the police will “commit an active involvement and participation to make this partnership between BPIAI and us a great success.”

Rakesh Sharma from Quatrro and Vice-President of BPIAI, said, “This was the first of the series of training programs planned and there will be more sessions held in the near future.” In fact, they are the planning for another technical workshop and are looking forward to taking this partnership to greater heights.
