Police will charge fee to provide security at Eden Gardens

Kolkata, March 24 The Kolkata police are going to charge a fee for providing security cover at the Eden Gardens and to the teams playing IPL matches at the ground.

“Seven matches will be played in Eden Gardens. We are going to charge a fee for the security arrangements on the ground and in the city,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Vineet Goyal.

A team comprising members from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and members of Red Chilli Entertainment Private Limited, which had bought Knight Riders, the Kolkata team, met the deputy commissioner on Monday.

The meeting was regarding the upcoming T20 IPL tournament organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). “The delegation enquired about parking facilities, tickets and security arrangements,” said Goyal.

He added, “They plan to organise an entertainment programme before and after each of the matches. Besides, there will be people from the entertainment industry and VIPs coming to watch the matches. So, the police arrangements will have to stricter than usual.”

When asked how much Kolkata police are going to charge, Goyal said, “This is the first meeting. We cannot divulge the details right now.”

    Reddit allows users to submit news articles and other online content to the site. Users also give articles a thumbs-up or thumbs-down. Reddit then uses those votes to build a user profile and to find articles to recommend to you. Users can also submit comments on items posted to the site.
