Kolkata, May 13 Land acquisition is set to become a major issue in the second phase of panchayat elections to be held tomorrow, when five districts —- Howrah, Nadia, North 24-Parganas, South 24-Parganas and Hooghly —- are going for polls.

If Singur in Hooghly faces the agitation against land acquisition for the small car-manufacturing unit of Tata Motors, Deganga in South 24 Parganas saw protests against setting up of an SEZ by Videocon.

Bhangar witnesses opposition against land acquisition for the road to be built by Salim group from Barasat in North 24 Parganas to Raichak in South 24 Parganas.
