New Delhi After a night of terror in Mumbai where terrorists targeted ten places gunning down over 100 people, Delhi woke up with terrifying memories of the recent blasts in the capital, the heat generated by the polls giving way to fear and caution.

With newspaper headlines screaming with news of the attacks and television channels showing minute by minute coverage of the encounter between terrorists and security personnel along with live footage, people began calling up friends and relatives based in the financial capital.

"Please now stop all the regional and religion differences. I am not concerned about which party wins. But will they be able to give us security? These politicians make such a lot of hue and cry if their 'Z' security cordon is withdrawn. Where is the security to the common man?" asks Ramesh Lal, a retired government official.

Till Wednesday, the talk on the street centered around the upcoming elections. The moods debating and comparing various candidates today changed to sombre with almost everybody talking about the Mumbai attack.

"We are very sure that despite attacks like this the situation is not going to change with all the political parties blaming each other for the security lapses. We need a man with iron face to improve situations," says Rajesh Kumar, a private bank employee while traveling in the city's metro train.

His colleague was too upset and angry that the terrorists made security agencies look like non-existing.

"Look the daredevil act. Were our security agencies sleeping?"

Some senior citizens who have been witness to several serial blasts in the country say this will be remembered as the most disastrous of all. "I did not sleep last night. I am traveling in metro and now think that person next to me could be carrying a bomb. I have told my other family members to be at home and do not visit market places," says 60 year old Ramji.

A senior Delhi police official says, "Our men have been briefed about the situation. We have strengthened security by deployed forces in maximum numbers. Checking are also being conducted at all public places."

terrorism by v. hari on 28 Nov 2008

our entire system is at fault. politicians r interested in votebank and appease people who can cause a tilt of votes in their favour. the constitutional provisions aimed at protecting minority from suppression by majority is used with much ado for suppression of the majority by the minority. court procedure is long-drawn and conviction rate too low. ultimately 90% of the offenders are able to escape punishment for lack of evidence or by bribing politicians/police/others or by taking advantage of the loopholes in law and procedures. borders are loose.visa procedure should have an in-builit provision to take a local guarantor for any foreigner visiting from a potential threat country but this is not done. prevention is nowhere there. after every incident too much noise is made and this and that are declared. afterwards everything is forgotten till the next event occurs. so anybody can come and do anything anywhere in the country and escape punishment in 90% of cases. Any wonder?

Our Politicians made these situation by Sachin Tyagi on 27 Nov 2008

People like Amar Singh who stand with terrorist to gain politically are behind these uneducated people who go for these terror activities, Wht Amar Singh says in his statement that these people are innocent and we will fight in the court, who is he to judge that? Its the Duty of judiciary to decide, nd if they found guilty will Mr. Amar Sing will also go with them to jail? These bloody politicians are eating this country, I would say British were far more better than these politicians.

Improve the security by Gurudev on 27 Nov 2008

As Rajesh kumar says, we need a very good guidance to improve the security situation. Why central and state govt. are so linient in security concern? I dont believe security is sleeping.. No technologies are used to find out the danger... Secrurity is available for PM and top brass. Pls. take decision boldly. Dont ask suggestion from Lalu,Amar Singh, Paswan, Pawar group.. They never care for the country. They know only their personal business.. Talk with Modi, Army,Navy stalwarts..Try to gather news from arrested terrorist in a positive way to improve the security at common places. Instead of lying roads many times, put for single time in a good manner and concentrate on the security of the country.
