Ponting came under fire over his decision to bowl part-timers when Australia might have pushed for victory in Nagpur, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
The Australian captain was facing a possible suspension for his team’s slow over-rate and was accused of placing his own interests first in deciding to bowl the part-timers.
At a pre-Test luncheon in Brisbane on Tuesday, Ponting said he remained upset at the criticism he received, particularly that from Chappell and Border.
“I haven’t spoken to either of those two gentlemen or probably won’t for a while,” he said.
“That’s fine, I understand people are going to have opinions on players and my captaincy. A lot of times you totally respect that,” he said.
“I don’t mind people questioning tactics of mine, but the thing that worried me the most was everyone thinking that people were saying I put myself ahead of the team and interests. I thought that was a bit unfair,” Ponting added.

Ponting clearly has lost it! One loss and the man cannot stop ranting and like a good lawyer, if you do not have evidence to disprove, question the credentials of the witness! I think it is just smarter and easier to just listen to people, try and learn from it and move on. Talking on and on like this is not going to help him or anyone.
Even the comments he has passed about the greats like Chappell and Alan Border, sounds his arrogance and audacity. I think the team will only perish under his captaincy. When a person loses his balance, he cannot take a correct decision on any matters. That is what precisely happening now. As a group of Aussie players, under the leadership of Ponting, are busy passing comments about other Cricket players, which are nothing but non-sense and writing their books with controversial statements, their team is only going to suffer. It is high time that Cricket Australia takes some steps to correct these sort of cricketers, in the best interest of the game.
