Kurbaan

Mumbai Closer on the heels of the ‘Wake Up Sid’ - MNS row over the 'Bombay-Mumbai' do, comes yet another controversy. This time, it's over the backless posters of Kareena Kapoor, from the forthcoming flick ‘Kurbaan’, which stars her beau Saif Ali Khan. This issue paved the way to more than 100 Shiv Sainiks as they came out on the streets and tore apart the posters of the said film, in the areas of Juhu, Marol and other parts of Andheri.

Speaking to our reporter, Sena activist Jitendra Janawale from Juhu said that "The scene in question is totally against Maharashtra's Hindu culture. No sooner the posters were put up all over the city, we got lots of complaints from people, esp. from the concerned parents of school children, stating that the said posters were in bad taste. We have anyways issued a strong warning to the filmmakers through the media. We want all the backless posters that have been put all over the city to be removed as soon as possible. Failing which, we shall protest against the film when it releases."

‘Kurbaan’ stars Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi and is directed by debutant director Rensil D'Silva. The film releases next week.

MNS by Dilip Mahanty on 17 Nov 2009

MNS has lost its marbles. Their chief even more so! With so many issues confronting the citizens and needing speedy resolutions, here is a bunch of morons peeping surreptiously under petticoats and complaining about immorality! Don't they have better things to do in life to earn a decent living? How about looking at their own morals of grabbing money any way they can?

Bravo. by surjit. on 17 Nov 2009

It should not be Shiv Sena only which should be protesting about the bare back poster of Kareena Kapoot but the whole decent Hindus,Sikhs who have any morality. And those who are moraless, lowlife can carry on with their vulgar live as usual.I do take my hat of the Shiv Sena for that. But I disagree with Bal Thackeray about his comments concerning Tendulkar.I too am Indian first and Punjabi second. To Abu Azmi,"Why don't this Bal Thackeray die and let others live....why God why I need answer" Well I am Allah speaking to you,you have no right to ask for Bal Tkackeray's death, you are going to burn in Hell.

Don't put adult posters in field of children's view !! by Mumbai-ite on 16 Nov 2009

It's not Maharashtra Hindu culture, it's Indian culture... I am not sure if Indian society is mature enough to sport adult posters of movies on public streets in the city, that too when its exposed to school children. Bollywood can decide its movie content, but they should choose the right posters for putting on public places, right? They could put it inside cinemas if they want, or in places not frequented by children!

Monkey sena and Kareena by Desi Pundit on 17 Nov 2009

According to me Hindi should be banned in non-Hindi states. Hindi is regional language and it should not be imposed on people who wish nothing to do with it. English hould be the working language in India. Kareena is doing good job and the monkeys of Shiv Sena should be thrown in jail at least, if they can't be thrown off this planet yet.

Fabyani by Vijay on 16 Nov 2009

This is issue which has been taken hugely. Hats off to Shiv Sena for such type of protests. How come these film makers try to malign our Indian Culture. SAifeena should be published for such type of scenes. In my opinion the scene should be banned in the film.

MNS is being self destructive; No one recognises Mumbai and if Mumbai wishes to be a global center then it has to go with bombay.

Empty mind is Devil's workshop. by Mohammed on 16 Nov 2009

Shiv Sena is over reacting, That is not Maharashtra Hindu culure, that is not Indian culture. I think Shiv Sena has no work to do, so they started competing with MNS and raising useless issue. There were many movie in past which showed worst poster than Kurbaan, even if one can see in any corner of the city you will find adult movie poster, so what shiv Sena is doing. Where is Shiv Sena women wing to fight such dirt in society. Mr. Bal Thackeray please stop your politics, now we want peace and not dividing politics. Not you but we got fedup of every politician like you, diregarding party, caste, religion. Thank U
