* While the average power demand in Delhi is 4,500 MW per day, there is a shortfall of at least 900 to 1,000 MW with supply at around 3,600 MW
* This, despite five power stations being at the capital's disposal: Indraprastha power station with capacity to generate 247.5 MW, Rajghat station at 135 MW, Gas Turbine station at 282 MW, Pragati station at 330 MW and Badarpur thermal power station at 705 MW
* Four other stations generate electricity for northern regions of Delhi and NCR: Singrauli station with capacity to generate around 200 MW, Rihand station at 300 MW and Dadri station at 1,600 MW

FARIDABAD AND GURGAON (HARYANA)
* Haryana gets 4,068 MW power daily. Of this, it generates only 1,587 MW. The state now seeks to generate an additional 5,000 MW by 2010
* In the first phase, a 300 MW unit has become operational in Yamuna Nagar and a second unit of the same capacity will be synchronised this month
* About 1,200 MW will be made available from Hissar thermal power plant. The first unit with 600 MW capacity will be operational in 2009 and the second in 2010
* The state will get 750 MW from the upcoming 1,500 MW Aravali plant in Jhajjar. The three units —each of 500 MW—are scheduled to be completed in April, June and August of 2010
* Faridabad has a daily demand of 80 lakh units but gets 60 lakh units. In residential sectors there are 3 to 4 hour-powercuts while industrial areas face 6 to 9 hour-powercuts
* Gurgaon has a demand of 1.2 crore units a day while supply is 75 lakh

* Estimates show that during non-peak hours, demand is 450 MW while peak hour-demand is about 550 MW
* Residential areas face black-out for 9.5 hours; it is around 7.5 hrs in industrial areas and six hrs in rural areas
* Gurgaon has three types of users--agricultural, domestic and non-domestic. The agriculture sector consumes 20-25% , domestic consumers get 40% share and non-domestic consumers another 40%
