Prabodhan to host first Twenty-20 in suburbs

Mumbai, January 30 The cream of Mumbai Cricket will be on view in the Prabodhan Goregaon Twenty 20 Cricket Tournament to be played between 6-9 February. Top outfits Mumbai Police Gymkhana, D.Y.Patil Gymkhana, New Hind Club, Shivaji Park Gymkhana, National Cricket Club, Parkophene , Cricket Club of India and Pantaloon Sports Club have confirmed their participation in the tournament, officially recognized by the Mumbai Cricket Association.

The brainchild of Subhash Desai, MLA and founder of Probodhan Goregaon, the tournament carries cash prize of Rs. 1 Lac to the winners and Rs.50,000/- to the runners-up, alongwith a handsome trophy.

The Player of the Tournament will be presented a Motor Bike. With a number of former and current Ranji and Test stars billed to play it will be a veritable feast for the suburban cricketlovers.

Prabodhan Goregaon have earlier organized a few cricket tournaments like, the test cricketer Ajit Pai Benefit Match and a Double Wicket Cricket Tournament, in which the two little masters, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Sanjay Manjrekar had displayed their wares.

The finals are slated for 9th February 2008 at 2.30p.m. On the other days the matches will commence at 9.30 a.m. and end at 5.30 p.m. The tournament will be inaugurated by Sanjay Potnis, cricket loving chairman of BEST, according to a press release issued by Anil Desai, Chief Secretary of Prabodhan.
