P C Pandey, the Director General of Police, Gujarat, attended the association’s annual general meeting on Monday at Ahmedabad and stressed on synergy between the police and the private security agencies.
Pandey also stressed on the point that the private security companies must improve their services even at the cost of profit or else the synergy will be of little significance. He added that under the new Private Security Regulation Act of 2005, the companies who refuse to improve services may have to shut shop.
GSAA president Vikram Mahurkar said: “Our services will be offered free of cost. We can share GPS devices and web-based applications to monitor sensitive spots like entry and exit points of temples, check-posts and other places in the city.” Mahurkar is also the managing director of a security agency called Checkmate.
“I can send 48 supervisors to report to a police station regularly. Each supervisor has at least 80 guards under him who update him about activities on the ground. There are a total of 70 security agencies in Gujarat with a combined strength of 75,000 guards. If the police use their services, they can surely strengthen the security network,” he said.
The GSAA has also assured that the security companies in Gujarat will make strenuous efforts to enhance their standards.
